Keywords: Positive Parenting Program, mental health,

As parents affects on the family, also, children with their

personality and behavioral growth characteristics affects on parenting behavior too. Studies have shown that children of mothers who have behavioral problems, feel more less successful, lower effectiveness, anger sense, anxiety and depression than mothers with healthy children.

Considering studies findings, it seems that identify strategies

The current research examined the effectiveness of Positive

Parenting Program on mothers of 4-12 year-old children with attention deficit/ hyperactive disorder.

The study population included all mothers of ADHD children

aged 4 to 12 that had been referred in 2008 to health centers affiliated to Behzisti University.

Present study, from data gathering view is a quasi-experimental

research and in terms of propose is a practical study.

Scheme used in this study was with pretest and post test group.

Research tools in the study were demographic questionnaire and

Findings

showed

that

the

instruction

has

caused significant mental health improvement in

experimental group compared to control group

mothers.

Experimental group in all subscales of both the test

and follow-up phase has lower average compared

with the control group. This finding means that

even

after

controlling

for

differences

in

the

The Positive Parenting Program was effective to

mothers’

mental health that had children with

attention deficit/hyperactive disorder. Therefore, it

is recommended this method should be used for

mothers of such children.
