by English Tutorial Program Students in Speaking Class: Naturalistic Study at

Departement of Accounting Education at hammadiyah University of Surakarta.

Skripsi Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah

Surakarta. Maret, 2017.

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tentang strategi komunikasi yang digunakan

oleh mahasiswa English Tutorial Program di kelas speaking dari Departemen

Akutansi di Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan 3

komponen, (1) Tipe strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh maha siswa, (2)

Frekuensi tipe strategi komunikasi, (3) Dominan strategi komunikasi yang

digunakan oleh mahasiswa. Data dalam penelian ini adalah strategi komunikasi

yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa English Tutorial Program di kelas speaking dari

Departemen Akutansi di Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Peneliti

menggunakan 3 kelompok English Tutorial Program, dengan jumlah 30 siswa

sebagai subjek. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penulis

meneliti data menggunakan taksonomi dari Dornyei. Penulis menemukan 6 subtipe

dari 2 tipe taksonomi dari Dornyei. Tipe yang paling dominan digunakan oleh

mahasiswa adalah Stalling or Time Gaining dengan 56,49%, Code Switching,

Appeal For Help, Message Abandonment, Literal Translation, dan yang paling jarang

digunakan yaitu Non-Linguistic Signals dengan 1,67%. Hal ini dapat ditarik

kesimpulan bahwa strategi komunikasi dibutuhkan oleh siswa dan dapat digunakan

sebagai materi di kelas berbicara. Sehingga siswa dapat bekomunikasi secara lancar.

This study decribed communication strategies used by English Tutorial

Program students in speaking class: naturalistic study at Accounting Education

Departement at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This study described three

components, (1) The type of communication strategies used by students, (2)

Frequency the type of communication strategies, (3) The dominant communication

strategies used by students. The data of this study is communication strategies used

by English Tutorial Pogram students in speaking class: naturalistic study at

Accounting Departement at Muhhamadiyah University of Surakarta. Researcher uses

3 groups of English Tutorial Program with 30 students as a subject. This study used

descriptif kualitatif. Researcher analysis uses Dornyei’s Taxonomy. The researcher

found 2 types with six subtypes of Dornye’s Taxonomy. The dominant type used by students is Stalling or Time Gaining with 56,49%, Code Switching, Appeal For Help,

Message Abandonment, Literal Translation, and the rarely type used by students is

Non-Linguistic Signals with 1,67%. It is can conclude that communication strategy

takes students and can be used as materials in speaking class. So that students can

communicate fluently.
