ABSTRACT

Background : Child becomes a target of sexual abuse because the perpetrator utilized their innocence and plainness of child. The perpetrator of child sexual abuse comes usually from people who close to child such as teacher, cleaning service, driver, and their biological father or step father. The effect of child sexual abuse not only physical health aspect but also psychological health aspect that has long lasting effects throughout life until adult. Most of perpetrator of child sexual abuse cases is victims of child sexual abuse in the past. So, early prevention efforts are needed to protect children from sex predators. This research aimed to analyze effectiveness of pop-up book media by

title : Identify your Body, as a means of children educative in “Protecting The Children from Sexual Predators “ program.

Methods : This research was applied in experimental method with quantitative approach by pre and post-test instrument, to know the change of knowledge and action in protecting themselves from sexual predator. Population and sample in this research are students of elementary school X in 4th, 5th and 6th class, total respondent are 80 students, 35 male students and 45 female students.

Result :The result showed that pop-up book media is very effective to appear students’s awareness in protecting themselves from sexual abuse. With effectiveness 1,17 (male), the changes of students’ knowledge and action are increase from (74,4%) to (94,1%) and the effectiveness is 1,22 (female), wit the changes of knowledge and action are increase from (87,9%) to (97%). It needs a comprehensive effort for the school in collaboration with universities and public to increase socialization of pop-up book media by title : Identify your Body, especially for students in 1st until 3rd class and for parents.
