Workshop on Writing Motivation Letter

"Motivation Letter is one of requirements that students should fulfill to apply for Erasmus Mundus program, and it is very important for you to write it well since it contains almost 25% in the scoring process by European Commission", that's an opening delivered by Mr Soeparto, the Assistant Rector for International Relations Office, on the workshop on writing motivation letter on Friday, December 30, 2012 which was attended by around 20 participants from different departments and level of studies. Mr. Soeparto also added that this workshop was conducted because there were many students asked to.
While on the presentation session, Mrs. Fardini, the head of English Department and also the alumni of Erasmus Mundus Bridging the Gap in 2011, explained that writing motivation letter was a very important and crucial step to take for students. By writing a good and fine motivation letter, the selection commitees would be easier to choose the candidates to join Erasmus Mundus. "You know, there is no real test or interview in this program, but the committes require the applicants to send documents, certificates, CV, and especially the motivation letter. So, if you can deliver yourself in a very interesting way, of course, it will be a plus for you to win the program", she explained. A good motivation letter, according to Mrs. Fardini, was the one which could deliver ourselves from the very wide area to the narrow one.

ne of participant from MKPP campus 1, said that the workshop helped him a lot. Since he is not a graduate from English department, the experience from the workshop opened ideas for him to write a better motivation letter. Moreover, he was also very happy because the committees of the workshop promised to help him when he needed an advice.The workshop was also attended by five alumni of Erasmus Mundus program in the last period. Their attendance was very helpful especially to motivate the new applicants to work harder to win the program. Finally, do your best guys, and good luck for your trial. (iro)
