ABSTRAK
Novel The Wind In The Willows menceritakan sebuah kisah yang dipusatkan pada petualangan empat karakter binatang di sebuah negeri di Inggris. Sebuah dunia persahabatan, kegembiraan bermain, dan petualangan terbuka bagi Mole, Ratty,dan Badger. Dalam petualangannya, mereka bertiga mencoba menolong Toad yang tercinta, untuk berhenti dari kebiasaan buruknya yang selalu menghabiskan uang dan mengemudi mobil dengan seenaknya. Selama Toad meninggalkan rumah besarnya untuk balapan mobil, musang musang mulai menempati rumah milik Toad. Beruntungnya ketiga temannya Toad yang setia itu (Mole, Ratty, Badger) berhasil merebut kembali rumah Toad dari musang musang itu. Penulis memilih novel ini karena novel ini mengisahkan persahabatan yang sejati. Dan penulis menyukai novel ini karena novel ini dipenuhi dengan petualangan, suasana persahabatan, dan hari hari liburan yang indah di sebuah negeri di Inggris, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan pada pembaca bagaimana keempat binatang yang menarik ini saling membantu dalam menyumbang pertumbuhan moral satu sama lain untuk mempertahankan persahabatan mereka. Dalam menganalisa keempat binatang yang menarik ini penulis menggunakan dua metode. Pertama, analisa tentang cirri-ciri persahabatan yang baik dari sudut pandang persahabatan sejati oleh Michaella yang bertujuan mengungkap Mole, Ratty, Toad dan Badger dalam mempertahankan pertemanan mereka. Ciri-ciri persahabatan yang baik tersebut terdiri atas solidaritas, pengorbanan, pengarahan dan keteguhan hati. Kedua, analisa tentang kemoralitasan dalam pertemanan dari sudut pandang Sherman, bagaimana tindakan Ratty, Badger dan Mole menyingkapi moral Toad yang buruk itu. Moralitas dalam pertemanan terdiri dari rasa simpati, kejujuran dan saling pengertian. Beberapa hasil dapat di simpulkan dari thesis ini. Pertama, Toad adalah seseorang yang penuh dengan kesetiaan. Toad selalu bersedia untuk temannya yang sedang membutuhkan pertolongannya. Pengorbanan Mole yang rela memberikan segenap jiwanya untuk kebaikan temannya. Dan pengarahan pengarahan baik Ratty yang digunakan untuk membimbing semua temannya. Dan keteguhan hati Badger yang tidak meninggalkan temannya dalam keadaan yang sulit sekalipun. Kedua, cara positif yang diterapkan Ratty, Mole, Badger itu menyingkapi moralitas buruk Toad, dengan cara itulah Ratty, Mole dan Badger membenahi kemoralitasan Toad agar dia menjadi lebih bijaksana dan dewasa.
ABSTRACT
The Wind In T he Willows tells about a story which focuses on the adventures of four animal characters in a country somewhere in England. A world of friendship, the fun of playing and adventures has opened for Mole, Ratty, and Badger. In Toad’s adventures the three of them try to help his beloved friend Toad, to stop his bad habit of wasting money and driving motor car recklessly. During Toad leave home for the race car, bad weasels begin to take over his Toad hall. The faithful friend (Mole, ratty, and Badger) regain from the Toad house with a sense of togetherness and cooperation with each other. The writer chooses this novel because it tells about true friendship. And the writer loves the story because it is filled with adventures, atmosphere of friendship, and vacation days in a beautiful country side of England. This study aims to show the readers how the four charming animal give contribution to the moral growth of each other to maintain their friendship. In analyzing the four animals that attract these, the writer uses two methods. The first is the analysis of the characteristics of good friendships from the standpoint of true friendship by Michaella which aims to reveal Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger in maintaining their friendship. The characteristics of true friendship consist of solidarity, sacrifice, course, strong heart. The second method is by Sherman’s theory morality in friendship to analyze how Ratty, Badger and Mole behave toward Toad’s morality. Morality in friendship consists of honesty, a sense of sympathy, and mutual understanding. Some results can be concluded from this thesis, first is that Ratty is a loyal person. Ratty is always ready when all his friend need for help. Second, Mole’s sacrifice: give all his soul for the best thing to Toad. Third, Toad’s faithful that make their friendship more meaningful and useful. Fourth, Badger’s strong heart who did not leave his friends in difficult circumstance. The positive way of maintaining friendship toward Toad’s bad morality, the Toad’s three friends help reviving his conscious into becoming more mature and wiser.
