There are some underlying reasons to analyze phrases in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s songs. By listening to music of Taylor Swift’s songs and reading the lyrics much knowledge about word, phrase, and grammar can be obtained. This research is then aimed at analyzing songs’ lyrics of Taylor Swift concerned 5 kinds of phrase these are: noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, adverb phrase and prepositional phrase. Then, the researcher choose Taylor Swift’s songs to analyze 5 kinds of phrase by selected 4 songs in her fourth album entitle “Red Album”. This topic is important to be analyzed because before learning about sentence, someone has to understand what a phrase is, and what a phrase constituents, all of these useful to be learned in order to get better understanding.
Furthermore in this study, there are 4 research problems. Namely: 1)What kinds of phrases used in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s songs? 2) What is the function of each phrase in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s songs? 3) What is the meaning of the phrases found in Taylor Swift’s songs? The purposes of this study were to: 1) To identify the kinds of phrases find in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s songs. 2) To find out the function of each phrase in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s songs. 3) To know the meaning of the phrases find in lyrics of Taylor Swift’s song.
The design of this research is content analysis qualitative approach, and the data of this research is 5 kinds of phrase. Meanwhile, the data source or the subject of this research is 4 songs’ lyrics of Taylor Swift selected in her fourth album entitled “Red Album”. Then, the instrument of this study was the researcher herself and the method of collecting data was documentation method.
This research revealed that the result of the analysis from 4 songs’ lyrics of Taylor Swift produce much phrases found in each lyric. The result as follow: the first lyric entitled “22” found there are 25 data and in those data have 4 kinds of phrases “noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase and prepositional phrase”, in second lyric entitled “Holy Ground” there are 35 data and there are 4 kinds of phrase found “NP, VP, adverb phrase and PP, in third lyric entitled “The Lucky One” there are 29 data and those data have 5 kinds of phrases “NP, VP, AdjP, AdvP and PP”, and the last lyric entitled “Starlight” there are 30 data and those data have 4 kinds of phrase “NP, VP, AdjP, and PP”.
Relating to the analyzing kinds of phrase, the researcher suggests that the next researcher can use this study as a media of analysis, especially the analysis of phrases. The researcher also hopes this research to be beneficial for the students, lecturers, and readers in learning about syntax.

Ada beberapa alas an penting dalam penelitian frasa di dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift. Dengan mendengarkan music dan membaca lirik lagu maka akan banyak pengetahuan yang dapat di peroleh, mereka dapat memperbanyak kosa kata, memahami frasa, dan tata bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan meneliti 5 jenis frasa, yaitu: frasa benda, frasa kata kerja, frasa kata sifat, frasa keterangan, dan frasa kata depan. Kemudian, peneliti memilih lagu Taylor Swift untuk meneliti 5 frasa tersebut dengan menyeleksi 4 lirik lagu dari album yang ke empat berjudul “RED Album”. Topik ini penting untuk diteliti karena sebelum belajar menyusun kalimat, seseorang harus memahami terlebih dahulu apa itu frasa, apa itu unsure pokok frasa, ini penting dipelajari agar mendapat pemahaman yang lebih baik.
Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 3 rumusan masalah yaitu: 1) Apa saja jenis frasa yang terdapat dalam lirik Taylor Swift? 2) Apa saja fungsi frasa dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift? 3) Apa makna frasa yang ditemukan dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift?. Dari permasalahan tersebut, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengenali jenis frasa yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift. 2) Untuk menunjukan fungsi setiap frasa dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift. 3) Untuk mengetahui makna frasa yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Taylor Swift.
Design penelitian ini adalah analisis isi dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dan data penelitian ini berupa 5 jenis frasa. Sementara itu, sumber data atau subyek penelitian ini adalah 4 lirik lagu dari Taylor Swift. Kemudian, instrument penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri, dan metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode dokumentasi.
Dari 4 lirik lagu Taylor Swift menghasilkan banyak frasa yang ditemukan di setiap lirik. Hasil penelitiannya adalah sebagai berikut: lirik pertama “22” terdapat 25 data dan memiliki 4 jenis frasa, frasa benda, frasa kata kerja, frasa kata sifat, dan frasa kata depan. Lirik ke dua “Holy Ground” terdapat 35 data dan memiliki 4 jenis frasa, frasa benda, frasa kata kerja, frasa kata keterangan, dan frasa kata depan. Lirik ke tiga “The Lucky One” terdapat 29 data dan memiliki 5 jenis frasa, frasa benda, frasa kata kerja, frasa kata sifat, frasa keterangan dan frasa kata depan. Lirik ke emapat “Starlight” terdapat 30 data dan memiliki 4 jenis frasa, frasa benda, frasa kata kerja, frasa kata sifat, dan frasa kata depan.
Terkait penelitian tentang macam-macam frasa, peneliti berharap penelitian selanjutnya dapat menggunakan penelitian ini sebagai media analisis, terutama analisis frasa. Peneliti juga berharap penelitian ini member banyak manfaat bagi siswa/mahasiswa, guru/dosen dan pembaca dalam mempelajari ilmu tentang Syntax.
