Let’s Make the City Clean and Fresh

A clean and fresh city will surely make the inhabitants healthy. Every morning especially in dry season, all roads must be watered with clean water and swept by the workers of regional government under the mayor’s instruction.

To protect people from heavy pollution caused by cars, trucks, and motorcycles, enough trees must be planted along the roads. Every building or house in the city must be surrounded by short and small trees which bear colorful flowers.

Bad and improper habits which cause disadvantages, such as smoking and throwing rubbish anywhere should be stopped at once.

The city mayor will have to think over the way to educate people, so they realize how important cleanliness and health are. More public lavatories are badly needed.

It will be wise if the city mayor decides a certain amount of fine to be paid by those who break the government regulation on cleanliness matter. For example, a man who urinates not at a lavatory, smokes not at a smoking room, or throws rubbish at the road should be fined. The National Final Examination

Despite criticism over the National Final examination policy, school across the nation still plan to hold the examination this month. The National Final Examination itself has caused a great deal of controversy because it is used as a single criterion for students graduate from schools. As a prerequisite of graduation, students must cram for math, economics, Bahasa Indonesia, and English. In addition, they must have scores above 4,25 for those subjects and have average scores above 5,5 for all other subject. For some reasons, I personally think that National Final Examination must be ended.

Firstly, the National Final Examination will only, encourage schools to give tasks, which develop student’s ability to answer typical examination questions. It will only benefit student who are good at exams rather than student who comprehend the subjects better. By doing this, it will not easy to meet the objective of learning, that is to develop student’s cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.

(10)

role to decide which students pass and which students are not because they know much better about the learning process of their students.

Thirdly, I personally believe that the National Final Examination can only be used for evaluating the education system and determine its weakness. The National Final Examination will not be fair for students in remote areas because they do not have the same level of education quality as schools in the city.

From the fact above, it is obvious that the National Final Examination is the wrong fit for the National Education System. The success of student’s learning cannot be determined solely by one test called the National Final Examination. Therefore, the government should drop the National Final Examination.

D. persuade the readers to agree with the writer that the National Final Examination is not effective

E. explain the readers about the advantages and disadvantages of the National Final Examination

32. Which of the following statement is TRUE according to the text?

A. There are no critics over the policy of the National Final Examination.

B. It will be easier to measure student’s psychomotor if our government does the National Final Examination.

C. We can consider our students as good students if they can get high scores in the National Final Examination.

D. The government finally decides to drop the National Final Examination because of its disadvantages.

E. There is a number of scores criterion that has been determined to decide which students pass the National Final Examination and which ones do not.

33. The last paragraph is called … A. Reiteration

34. The success of student’s learning cannot be determined solely by one test called the National Final Examination. (Paragraph 5)
