Background: H.pylori plays an important role to gastritis and paptic ulcer, 70%-90% occur in developing countries. Acute gastritis chronic gastritis inflammatory response occurs activating and cytokines that cause inflammation of the mucosa where mucosal levels of IL-8 incresed in H.pylori- infected patiens with dyspepsia.
Aim: To identify the characteristic of patients gastritis H.pylori and non H.pylori gastritis, the levels of IL-8 in patients with H.pylori gastritis and non H.pylori and the relation of IL-8 in gastritis H.pylori.
Methods: The study was conducted with a cross-sectional design of the 80 patiens with dyspepsia, underwent endoscopy at Adam Malik Hospital and Medical Faculty Hospital USU network and detection of H.pylori is done by using the CLO and examination of serum IL-8 by methods ellisa.
Results: Of the 80 subjects, 41 (51,3%) male, mean age 49.33% years, the majority of the ethnic Batak 48 people (60%), and 41,24% gastritis H.pylori. There is no significant correlation between serum IL-8 and H.pylori (p = 0,635), the mean serum levels of IL-8 was higher (38.96 pq/dl) in H.pylori gastritis compared to non H.pylori ( 36.01 pg/dl ) in H.pylori gastritis compered to non H.pylori (36.01 pq/dl), there is no significant correlation between IL-8 with gastritis H.pylori dan non H.pylori.
Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between IL-8 and gastritis H.pylori.
