Usulan Pengembangan Metode Work Sampling Berdasarkan Teori Y (Douglas McGregor).

ABSTRAK

Informasi tentang beban kerja dari setiap karyawan dibutuhkan untuk menentukan jumlah karyawan di setiap unit kerja. Jenis pekerjaan yang tidak mengikuti suatu pola tertentu (karyawan tidak langsung) sulit diukur waktu kerja/pemakaian waktu kerjanya, sehingga diperlukan suatu pendekatan tertentu. Pendekatan yang populer dipakai selama ini untuk mengetahui distribusi pemakaian waktu kerja karyawan tidak langsung adalah sampling pekerjaan (work

sampling), yaitu sebuah metode untuk mengukur persentase kemunculan suatu

aktivitas melalui pengamatan secara acak. Namun metode work sampling ini memiliki kelemahan utama dalam hal sumber daya yang dibutuhkan untuk melaksanakan pengukuran dan juga terkadang sulit diterapkan di semua tempat.

Berdasarkan kelemahan-kelemahan yang terdapat pada metode work

sampling, maka dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pengembangan metode

pengukuran beban kerja karyawan tidak langsung berdasarkan teori Y (Douglas McGregor). Teori Y berpendapat bahwa pada dasarnya orang itu baik, dapat dipercaya, dan memiliki sifat-sifat positif yang lainnya. Adapun tujuan dari dilakukannya pengembangan metode work sampling ini adalah agar dihasilkan suatu metode baru yang lebih baik dan dapat diterapkan secara luas sebagai sebuah metode pengukuran beban kerja karyawan tidak langsung.

Metode-metode pengukuran beban kerja karyawan tidak langsung yang dikembangkan adalah metode self sampling, metode self sampling with modified, metode diary sampling dan metode diary sampling with modified. Keempat metode ini dapat mengeliminasi kelemahan utama yang terdapat pada metode

work sampling, yaitu dalam hal sumber daya yang dibutuhkan untuk

melaksanakan pengukuran dan juga dapat diterapkan di semua tempat.

Cara pengisian dari keempat metode yang dikembangkan ini adalah dengan cara pemberian tally atau pemberian huruf saja pada kolom-kolom waktu yang telah ditentukan, dan yang melakukan pengisian adalah karyawan sendiri. Karakteristik dari metode self sampling dan self sampling with modified adalah interval random dan pengisian lembar kerja dengan tally. Diary sampling memiliki karakteristik interval konstan dan pengisian lembar kerja dengan tally, sedangkan diary sampling with modified memiliki karakteristik interval waktu konstan dan pengisian lembar kerja dengan huruf. Pengumpulan data untuk penelitian ini dilakukan di 3 tempat berbeda, yaitu perpustakaan fakultas psikologi UKM, salah satu tempat fotocopy di UKM dan PT. “A. di jalan raya gadobangkong no 97, Bandung. Berdasarkan uji Wilcoxon yang telah dilakukan, keempat metode yang dikembangkan tersebut ternyata memberikan hasil yang valid (hasilnya tidak berbeda secara signifikan dengan metode work sampling).

Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data dengan scoring concept, uji validitas, kesulitan-kesulitan dalam penerapannya dan penilaian performansi yang sudah dilakukan didapatkan hasil bahwa metode diary sampling with modified memiliki nilai yang paling tinggi, yang berarti menurut para responden metode diary

sampling with modified merupakan metode yang terbaik dari keempat metode

yang dikembangkan.
