1 AGAR WOOD PRODUCING FUNGAL INOCULANT FORMULATION

ABSTRACT

This research aimed to find the agar wood producing fungal inoculant formulation that infect Ketimunan tree effectively and resulted in high quality of agar wood. Complete Block Design was applied in this research with formulation of Fusarium solaniand Rhizopus sp inoculant in liquid and solid form were combined as variables. Those variables were as follows: A) solid Fusarium solani inoculant, B) solid Rhizopus sp inoculant, C) mixture of solid Fusarium solani inoculant and solid Rhizopus sp inoculant, D) liquid Fusarium solani inoculant, E) liquid Rhizopus sp inoculant, F) mixture of liquid Fusarium solani inoculant and liquid Rhizopus sp inoculant, and G) mixture of solid and liquid of Fusarium solani and Rhizopus sp inoculants. Each variable was repeated three times. Parameters measured were level of fragrance, agar wood color, and its resin content. Result showed that all formulations effect resin content of agar wood significantly. Mixture of liquid Fusarium solani and liquid Rhizopus sp inoculant showed best quality agar wood with quality characteristics: brownish black or agar wood with black and brownish-black color, very strong fragrance, and 13.58% resin content.
