in this paradoxical world of order and chaos, the chance of being alive and
experiencing many things.
My deepest gratitude dedicated to my mother and my father for their

ABSTRACT
In a world of short story Edgar Allan Poe is recognized as one of the best writers when it comes to mystery and horror tales. His unique style and well-crafted stories become role model for those who aspire to be mystery writer.
This research used Stylistic Approach to analyze Edgar Allan Poe’s short
stories and to show the use of style which emphasizes on horror in these short
stories. The writer analyzes the differences of style in Poe’s work “The Black
Cat”, “The Tell Tale Heart”, and “The Pit and Pendulum”. This research also
compares how the differences in style affect the overall sense of horror. This research is a descriptive qualitative research which takes purposive sampling
technique. All the data were collected using literature research methods that ha ve
relations to the object of research.
. The result of this study shows that Poe employs a similar style, the use of first point of view and streams of thought to narrate the story but each story focuses on different idea. The style gives different impressions based on the ideas Poe chooses.
