II.1. Definition of Ro-ro (Roll On - Roll Off) Vessel
Ro-ro ships are one type of vessel which have special function to carry wheeled cargo such as motorcycles, cars, trucks, semi-trailer trucks and trailers that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels or using platform vehicle. for the ship is equipped with a ramp door that is associated with moveble bridge or a floating dock to dock.
There are some type of Ro-ro vessel, namely: a. Ro-ro vessel for ferry serving,
b. Ro-ro vessel for car carrier,
c. Ro-ro vessel for general cargo carrier

Capital Modal Investment cost or Capital cost is the kind of cost which applied along the investment period or when the business start to doing initial investmens, such as New building cost, second hand vessel purchase, modification cost, payment investment and profit to be shared. b. Operational Costs
Operational cost is the shipping cost type which applied when before ship starting to sailing in voyage such as offer cost, seafarer cost, maintenance (repair / docking) cost, logistics cost (for food and drinks for the crews), inspection / survey cost and insurrences cost (ship, cargo and seafares.) c. Voyage Costs
Voyage cost is the type of shipping cost which starts to apllied when the ship start to sailing, voyage cost diveded by two kinds of cost, namely sail cost and port cost. there are several types of costs are included in this type of voyage cost, namely fuel cost, lubricating cost, berthing cost, tug assist cost, waste cost, security cost and VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) / channel cost.

Kapal beroperasi dengan rute Surabaya – Balongan (Jawa

Lama pelayaran

Jadi lama kapal beroperasi adalah : 48 + 24 = 72 Jam (3 hari)
Kapal sekali beroperasi (pulang pergi) membutuhkan waktu :

Maka dalam satu bulan kapal dapat beroperasi sebanyak 4 kali, dengan lama waktu operasi :
= 144 Jam x 4 jkali beroperasi
= 576 Jam (dalam sebulan) = 6912 Jam (dalam setahun) = 288 Hari
