PENGGUNAAN GESTUR TANGAN PADA TUTURAN ANAK USIA DUA TAHUN

Titik Sudartinah [email protected] FBS Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta

Abstract

This article aims at describing the types, functions and roles of hand gestures used in the utterances of a old child. There are three types of hand gestures used by a two-year-old child in his utterances, i.e. emblematic, illustrator, and emotional gestures. The functions are to describe the location/condition of an object, ask the interlocutor to do what the child wants, and refuse doing what the interlocutor asks him. The hand gestures in the utterances of a two-year-old child can be used either to replace some missing verbal words or just accompany the utterances.
