ABSTRACT
Uveitis is defined as inflammation of all or part of the uvea. Mostly idiopathic in nature, little is known about the pathogenesis of uveitis. Uveitis contributes to blindness worldwide and affects people with age where they are most active in their life. Few studies have been carried out to establish knowledge about uveitis in Indonesia. Therefore, this study will at least be a representation of one aspect of uveitis (complication) in Indonesia.
The objective of this study is to describe the complications in new patients diagnosed with uveitis in Department of Infection and Immunology of Cicendo Eye Hospital from January 2010 to June 2010.
The research is a descriptive research by assessing registration list of the patients to get the medical record number and analyzing these medical records of patient with uveitis in Department of Infection and Immunology of Cicendo Eye Hospital during the period of January 2010 until June 2010.
As the result, cataract recorded highest number of cases with 26.7%, followed by vision loss by 15.1% and glaucoma by 8.1%. Cataract is the leading complication in this study, followed by vision loss and glaucoma.
