Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the field of Energy and Mineral

CONSIDERING the Parties' common interest to promote and encourage colraborative

in the field of mincrnl and cnt!rgy research and of the reciprocal advantages resulting from

RECALLING lhe need for effective cooperation in mfneral and energy research which will benefit the Governments of Indonesia and Australia;

REFERRING TO the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the

signed on August 2·1, 1994 or any amendment thereto;

Article 1

OBJECTIVE

The Parlil?S muluully wish lo pursue the following objectives:

a) Conduct of applied research ancl development activities in the field of mineral and energy rescarcl1

l1) The transfer of rclG1ted scientific knowledge and technologies to practical applications for private industry and government agencies.

Article 2

FRAMEWORK OF COOPERATION

1. The Parties believe that cooperation in the Fields of rセウ・。イ」ィ@ as listed below is In the common lntcre5t Md for the benefit of both Parties. Opportunities to undertake such cooperation may be: pursued through the development of Research Projects.

2. Envic;e19ed Fields of Rese<1rch of common interest are scientific research related to:

a) exploration concepts and technologies;

b) lc:iboratory strengthening and development;

c) resource evaluation and delineation (onshore and offshore);

d) gcoscience ilnd environmental development

c) coal bed methane;

f) coal utilisation

g} oil and gas technology

h) new and イセョ・キ。「ャ・@ energy

i) environmental impact of mining

j) sustainable dev!!!lopment of mining technologies

k) remote area power supply

I) electric power technology

m) information technology application development.

3. Other Fields of Research may be jointly determincid by the Parties.

4. The Mechanisms for Cooperation constitute an integral part of this Memorandum of Understanding.

5. Wilhin the framework of the Mechanisms for Co-operation the Parties will develop Research Projects within jointly determined budgets.

Article 3

CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Subject to personnel and budget limitations the First Party intends to:

il) muke available research resources and personnel for scientific exchange and/or for overseas training;

b) provide relevar:it information regarding potential ResQarch Projects which Is of mutual interest to tho Parties and the non-confidential activities of the Ministry

Article 8

AMENDMENTS

Any <Jmenclrncnt to this Memorandum of Understanding can only be made after consultation and

by wrillcn mutual consent of the Parties.

Article 9

TERM, EXTENSION AND

TERMINATION

1. ·r11is Memorandum of Understanding will come into effect on the date of signing and unless

Curlier terminated will continue for five (5) years.

2. If the PLlrties wish to extend the term, they may do so by written mutual consent at least six months before cxpir/ of the Memorandum of Understanding.

3. Each Party has the right to terminate this Memorandum of Understanding at any time by

giving tile olher Party written notice to that effect six months prior to the effective date of termin;:ition.

Article 10

SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES

1. The pセイエゥ・ウ@ shall endeavour to resolve any dispute between them connected with this Memorandum of Underst<Jnding by prompt and friendly consultations and negotiations. 2. Subject to My applicable provisions In

Project Implementation Agreements, any

differing viewpoints or interpretations on how to put the arrangements under this Memornndum of Understanding into effect,

which

influence the Implementation of the Research Project or rolated activities, will be settled amicably

by

consultation or negotiation
