Syllabus update: Cambridge IGCSE

®

Computer Science (0478)

for examination in 2017, 2018 and 2019

We have updated this syllabus. The latest syllabus is version 3, published October 2016.

What has changed? Detail

Changes to syllabus From 2017

This syllabus will remain unchanged for examination across a three-year period, and is for examination from March 2017.

From 2019

This document has a new design. The subject content remains the same.

Minor changes to the wording of some sections have been made to improve clarity.

Changes to assessment (including changes to specimen papers)

From 2019

Pre-release material

The information about the availability of pre-release material has been updated.

The pre-release material for Paper 2 Problem-solving and Programming is made available to Centres shortly after the estimated entries deadline for the June and November examinations. For the March examination it will be made available to Centres shortly after the 0478 Computer Science final entries deadline. The pre-release material is also reproduced in the question paper.

Changes to availability From 2019

IGCSE Computer Science is examined in the June and November examination series.

This syllabus is also available for examination in the March examination series for India only.

Publishers’ endorsed resources

Any textbooks endorsed to support the syllabus for examination from 2015 are still suitable for use with this syllabus.

We have updated the specimen materials for this syllabus.

Please check the updated syllabus for further information.

The syllabus has been updated. You are strongly advised to read the whole syllabus before planning your teaching programme.
