Skripsi ini berjudul, Representasi Praktik Kartel dalam Impor Kedelai, studi deskriptif dengan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes terhadap sampul majalah Gatra edisi 19-25 September 2013 tentang praktik kartel dalam impor kedelai. Pembimbing utama Dr. Dadang Rahmat Hidayat, S.Sos., SH, M.Si dan pembimbing pendamping Drs. Sahat Sahala Tua Saragih, M.I.kom, Jurusan Jurnalistik, Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi tanda denotasi, makna konotasi, mitos, dan mengetahui ideologi yang terkandung di objek penelitian berupa sampul majalah Gatra edisi 19-25 September 2013. Penelitian bersifat kualitatif ini diselesaikan dengan menggunakan pisau analisis bernama semiotika dari Roland Barthes.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesatuan tanda denotasi berupa gambar tangan yang terhubung melalui tali ke wadah berisi kedelai memiliki
makna konotasi bahwa kelangkaan dan peningkatan secara drastis harga kedelai di pasar nasional terjadi secara sengaja dan dilakukan secara samar-samar melalui persekongkolan oleh beberapa importir raksasa. Mitos yang terdapat dalam topik utama Gatra edisi 19-25 September 2013 adalah kebijakan Kemendag membuat celah kesempatan melakukan penguasaan pasar kedelai semakin lebar, kemudian kondisi ekonomi global dan nasional yang sedang memburuk semakin mendorong terjadinya penguasaan pasar kedelai di Indonesia oleh importir swasta. Ideologi yang disampaikan pada gambar sampul berdasarkan Undang-undang No. 5 Tahun 1999 tentang Larangan Praktik Monopoli dan Persaingan Usaha Tidak Sehat bahwa penguasaan pangsa pasar (monopoli) merugikan masyarakat luas dan hanya menguntungkan golongan tertentu saja.

salah dan memicu spekulatif pada beberapa perusahaan importir kedelai. Tindakan penyebaran informasi ini dilakukan untuk menghindari monopoli pasar kedelai oleh swasta dan merugikan masyarakat pengonsumsi kedelai.

The objective of this research are to identify denotation sign, connotation signification, myth, and to understand the ideology that contained in the object of this thesis, cover of Gatra magazine edition 19-25 September 2013. This qualitative research is finished by using semiotic analysis methode from Roland Barthes.
Result of this research shows the unity of denotation sign which is pictured as hand that connected through rope to some soybean container have conotation signification that the scarcity and incisively increased price of soybean are caused intentionally and disguised through conspiracy of some private companies. Myths of the main issue occurred from Gatra in the edition 19-25 September 2013 were Indonesia Trade Ministry made the opportunity of domination more extensive, the deteriorated of economic situation in global and national scope encourage the domination of Indonesia soybean market by private importers. Ideology that presented in picture of the cover is based on Indonesian Regulation No. 5/1999 about Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition said that domination in any market (monopoly) will hurt major society badly and just bring benefit to some group.

Advice for Gatra is to get more emphasize in a lot of data which can become
strong evidence not based in assumption of interviewee as the premier ingredients
for report about some debauchery so that artistic team of Gatra can communicate
