Reviewer: The study analyses the distribution of heavy metals that are discharged from the gold mining/refining process in the soils and plant tissues surrounding the mining area. In spite of the local nature of the study, it is relevant as it demonstrates the link between the metal concentrations in the soil to that in plant tissue in a field scale.

1. Page 1 Line 54: to be corrected as '….patterns according to Li et al. (2018) and Zhan et al. (2016)….' 2. Page 2, Lines 10&11: What is the source of information on Grand Forest Park?

3. Page 2, Lines 29& 30: What is the perfect zig-zag line approach? At least cite some studies that explain and use this approach

4. Page 2, Line 45: What is the significance of sampling at 9.00am?

5. Sampling strategy is not clear. The authors tell about composite sampling and grab sampling of soil. Even the figure 1 is not conveying the sampling strategy adopted. A geographic representation of sampling points could have brought in more clarity. A better map of the study area showing location of the mines and sampling locations is also recommended. The image of the study area in Fig 1 is not clear.

6. The use of TF is not clear/uniform. In some cases it is used with concentration in whole plant, but, in other cases with concentration in leaves.

7. While integrating secondary data (from other sources) with primary data, was it ensured that the sapling points and procedures (like depth, composite/grab, etc) were the same?

8. The presentation of results needs significant improvement.

9. A geographical representation of soil concentration distribution shall be adopted. If possible carry out a GIS analysis of the distribution to get the trends (distance from source vs concentration, etc.)

10. Avoid long paragraphs like the one in the discussion part. These paragraphs can be easily split into clearer and compact

paragraphs.

11. The language of the manuscript require correction/refining/paraphrasing at many places. Please take the help of a professional.

12. Does the title convey what is dealt in the manuscript? The plants analysed for heavy metals are mostly food crops.
