ABSTRACT
This study is aimed to investigate the impact of service quality and satisfaction on public
trust for criminal case in Bayang police resort . This study conceptualizes the service
quality that consists of five dimensions namely tangibles, empathy, reliability,
responsiveness and assurance. The population of the study is all communities who have
reported criminal cases in Bayang police resort during years of 2008 to 2012. In terms of
getting samples, this study employs stratified random sampling method. The numbers of
sample used to analyze are 223 respondents. In order to test hypotheses development, this
study performs multiple regression analysis. The results of analysis display that 1)
Dimensions of empathy and reliability do not significantly influence public trust for
criminal cases. 2) Dimensions of tangibles, responsiveness and assurance influence
significantly public trust for criminal cases. 3) Public satisfaction influence significantly
public trust for criminal cases. 4) Public satisfaction is registered to have strongest effect
on public trust, and then followed by dimensions of assurance, responsiveness, tangibles,
reliability and empathy respectively. 4) Service quality and public satisfaction effect
public trust which accounted for 78.9%. In order to increase public trust, this study
recommends to Bayang police resort to enhance implementation of service quality and
public satisfaction.
