Untuk mengujinya, penulis menggunakan 3 koder untuk menguji isi berita utama media Indonesia edisi Maret – April 2010 terhadap sumber berita dan kecenderungan beritanya.

Sedangkan untuk menghitung Reliabilitas, penelitian ini menggunakan Rumus Holsty ( Ritonga, 2004:86 ), yaitu :

Dengan demikian, berdsarkan hasil tersebut dapat diketahui kesepakatan antara tiga koder mencapai lebih dari 70%. Berdasarkan pendapat Lasswel dalam Ritonga (2004;87) yang menyatakan kategori sudah dianggap reliable bila kesepakatan antara koder sudah mencapai 70% - 80%. Menurut kesepakatan Lasswel maka kategori yang telah disusun oleh penulis bisa dinyatakan reliable.

Sedangkan untuk hasil perhitungan kesepakatan koder mengenai kategori yang diuji pada bidang masalah adalah sebagai berikut :

Sama hal nya dengan kesepakatan kategori pada Sumber Berita, kesepakatan uji kategori pada Bidang Masalah juga telah mencapai tingkat reliable yang menunjukan lebih dari 70%, oleh karena itu kategorinya bisa dianggap reliable.
