Abstract
Study on metamorphosis has focused on how people have the capacity of change. The major character in Nicholas Spark’s A Walk to Remember, although the content of novel only focused on major character (Landon Carter). When he was seventeen his life changed forever. Not an easy thing to do when someone fights to change and become a better person. Landon gets social support during his transformation process from the people around him. Landon gets support especially from his family, his friends (peers), and the last is from Jamie. Jamie gives important experience to him. Landon changes his behavior to be better. The researcher uses qualitative method. The results of this research the are four (4) the indicators of metamorphosis, such as behavior, thought, perception and cognitive/cognition. The earlier personality of Landon are seen from behavior, Landon carter depicted lazy, mischievous, disobedient, pessimistic and impolite. Then the later personality of Landon metamorphosis/transformation are dilligent, good, obedient, optimistic and polite. The depicton of causes of Landon’s metamorphosis, there are few factors that causes Landon’s metamorphosis process including social factors, economic factor, sychological factors and religious. The social factors consist of family, friends (peers), and the last is from Jamie who give impacts on the lives of everyone around her. Thirdly, the effects of Landon metamorphosis. After Landon carter close with Jamie Sullivan, he is describe as polite, mature, religious optimistic, generous and wise. The last is the reason of addressing metamorphosis in A Walk to Remember, Sparks wrote this novel not only so that the reader could get to know about his sister, but so that the reader would to know what a wonderful thing it was that her husband once did for her.

Studi metamorfosis telah difokuskan pada bagaimana orang-orang memiliki
kapasitas perubahan. Karakter utama dalam Nicholas Spark A Walk to Remember,
meskipun isi novel hanya terfokus pada karakter utama (Landon Carter). Ketika ia berusia tujuh belas tahun hidupnya berubah selamanya. Bukan hal yang mudah untuk dilakukan ketika seseorang berjuang untuk berubah dan menjadi orang yang lebih baik. Landon mendapat dukungan sosial selama proses transformasi dari orang-orang di sekelilingnya. Landon mendapat dukungan terutama dari keluarganya, teman-temannya (teman sebaya), dan yang terakhir adalah dari Jamie. Jamie memberikan pengalaman penting baginya. Perubahan perilakunya Landon menjadi lebih baik. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah empat (4) indikator metamorfosis, seperti perilaku, pikiran, persepsi dan kognitif/kognisi. Kepribadian sebelumnya Landon terlihat dari perilaku, Landon carter digambarkan malas, nakal, tidak patuh, pesimis dan tidak sopan. Kemudian kepribadian setelahnya Landon metamorfosis/transformasi menjadi rajin, baik, taat, optimis dan sopan. Gambaran penyebab metamorfosis Landon, ada beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan proses metamorfosis Landon ini termasuk faktor-faktor sosial, faktor ekonomi, faktor sosial dan agama. Faktor-faktor sosial terdiri dari keluarga, teman (teman sebaya), dan yang terakhir adalah dari Jamie yang berdampak pada kehidupan semua orang di sekitarnya. Ketiga, efek dari Landon metamorfosis. Setelah Landon carter dekat dengan Jamie Sullivan, ia digambarkan sebagai sopan, dewasa, agama optimis, murah hati dan bijaksana. Yang terakhir adalah alasan menangani metamorfosis di A Walk to Remember, Sparks menulis novel ini tidak hanya pembaca bisa mengetahui tentang adiknya, tapi juga pembaca akan mengetahui hal indah apa yang pernah dilakukan suaminya untuk Jamie
