ABSTRACT
ISPA (Acute Respiratory Tract Infection) is one of the causes of the large numbers of health service visits to Puskesmas (Public Health Centers) in Desa Binjai which becomes the highest cause of health problem. The general research objective is to identify the correlation between immunization status and acute ISPA incidents of Balita (1-5 year old children). The research applies descriptive correlative design with cross sectional approach. The sample is 70 children determined by accidental sampling technique. The data are collected by distributing questionnaires and presented in frequency distribution. The results shows that 31 Balita (44.3%) have complete immunization status, 39 Balita (55.7%) had incomplete immunization status, 33 (47.1%) had ISPA, and 37 (52.9%) do not have ISPA. On the bivariate test is obtained the significant p=0.000 (p<0.05) and the spearman correlation value (r) -0.842. This shows that there is a strong correlation between the immunization status and ISPA incidence towards the negative correlation. It is expected that the health personnel and all mothers who have Balita in the working areas of Puskesmas in Desa Binjai be diligent and constantly monitor the children’s immunization until they are five years old in order to prevent ISPA incidence.
