ABSTRACT
Mandibular fracture, which can occur together with maxillary fracture, is the fracture of the lower jaw bone, specifically the hard tissue. They may also occur alone or in combination with other facial injuries or other complications such as nasal fractures. In most cases, the cause of mandible fracture is due to traffic accidents. There appears to be a greater chance of mandible fractures in male due to their mass activities and working to earn salaries for the family outside the house. Unfortunately, due to the complexity and various reasons of the fractures, most studies have failed to identify major risk factors.
The purpose of this research was to find out information about the percentage of pattern of mandible fractured patients that visited the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department in RSHS, Bandung.
The type of this research was retrospective with descriptive method. The results show that there are 0.32% of mandibular fractured patients in RSHS and 20.93% of mandibular fractured patients in RSHS has parasymphysis fractured in the years of 2010 – 2011.
In conclusion, we get to know that parasymphysis is the type of mandibular fractures happened most frequently and suggestions that might be able to prevent it from happening as much as possible in the future.
