vii RINGKASAN

viii SUMMARY

Biodiversity information of the phylum Echinodermata especially classes Asteroidea and Ophiuroidea from Selok Ipah beach Adipala Cilacap is needed as the basic information for the future coastal waters conservation. This study aims to determine the biodiversity and species distribution patterns, species composition, species density, and species relative density of the classis Echinodermata, Asteroidea (starfish) and Ophiuridea (brittle stars), in Selok Ipah beach. The research method used was a survey and belt transect sampling technique used for sample collection. Three replicates of belt transect with a lenght of 10 m and 1 m width is. Five (5) species were found consisting of; 4 species of the classis Asteroidea Protoreaster nodosus, Nardoa rosea, Culcita novaeguineae, and Archaster typicus, as well as one species of the classis Ophiuridea,Ophiolepis superba. Echinodermata distribution at station A based on the variance index is 0.23 <0.3 or clumped distribution, while station B is 0.5 = 0.5 which means uniform distribution. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index H' at station 1 is 1,098 means moderate diversity in location A, and at station 2 is 0.95, means that diversity in location B is considered low, while the dominance index (Simpson s) is quite low at 0.21.
