THE USE OF PICTURE WORD INDUCTIVE MODEL IN TEACHING VOCABULARY

A study at the seventh grade students of a state junior high school in Cidaun Cianjur

ABSTRACT

This research investigated the effects of using the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) on vocabulary learning and students’ perception towards the use of that particular method of teaching vocabulary. For that purpose, the quasi-experimental study was designed with the population of the seventh grade students of a junior high school. Resuts indicate that there are significant differences between the control and experimental group in vocabulary mastery. Furthermore, in relation to the issue of perception, students show very positive opinion towards the use of PWIM in learning vocabulary. It can be concluded that as an alternative method in creating effective learning experience, the use PWIM improves students’ vocabulary mastery and students percieve positively towards the model.
