His career has been in engineering, mostly in academia as lecturer, professor and reader at the Universities of Birmingham, Cape Town and Sussex. He retired early and acquired a degree in fine art in 2005. His meticulous work in coloring the engravings of this collection has produced prints that are artistically pleasing while remaining in sympathy with the period.
