To the National Executive Committee American Turners:
We have examined the books and records of the American Turners and accounting procedures to the extent we deemed appropriate, without making a detailed audit of the transactions.
In our opinion, the accompanying balance sheet and related statement of income and surplus present fairly the position of the American Turners at December 31, 1943, and the results of its operations for the year then ended.

REPORT OF THE SECRETARY
Due to conditions beyond our control and in cooperation with the Government in cutting down on the use of paper, labor and other materials essential to winning the war, we are presenting a condensed report showing the recapitulation of societies' reports, the Jahn Educational Fund, Instruc- tors' Fund and the Red Cross Campaign.
The American Turners consist of 17 districts with 100 societies and a total of 17,710 dues-paying members for 1943. There are over 2 500 Turners in the Armed Forces of our country. Approximately 450 have been members of the American Turners for 50 years or more.
The Elizabeth Turn Verein has withdrawn from the American Turners.
A new society is being formed in Bettendorf, Iowa with their application to join the American Turners, on file.
Many societies have failed to send in their Statistical Reports, therefore last year's figures were used, thus causing a difference in the membership report of the Treasurer and that of the Secretary .
Respectfully,
EMIL L. PLETZ

INSTRUCTORS' FUND OF THE AMERICAN TURNERS
The Instructors' Fund was established by the American Turners for the purpose of aiding Instructors who have served the Turners Faithfully and who are seriously in need of assistance.
The following are some of the provisions of the Trust Agreement and Rules governing this fund: All contributions must be added to the principal of the Fund. The principal must. be invested only in high grade, United States Government, State or Municipal Bonds. One-fourth of the income of this fund must be added to the principal to insure the growth of the Fund.
The balance of the income is available for distribution to worthy applicants.
In order that an application for aid may be considered, the applicant must have rendered faithful service as an Instructor in a Turner Society of the American Turners. Application for aid may be submitted by the applicant or by the Executive Officers of a Turner Society, in which the applicant served. In making distributions of funds to needy applicants, it is obligatory upon the Trustees to take into consideration the acts of Instructors and/or their Societies in contributing to the Fund. All officers handling monies or resources of the Fund are adequately bonded. No Trustee can receive any salary or compensation from the Fund.
