describedfrom "Mexico." Specimens
in the collections of the BiologicalSurvey and
theU.
S.National Museum show,
however,
that typicalG. gnnma
is limited to themountains about
thesouthern end
of theMexican Tableland (and
prol)ab]ysouthward) while
the bird of the Sierra]Madre
ofnorthern Mexico and
of theRocky Mountains
inthe United
States isa
recognizable subspecies,
which
isdescribedbelow.
