Najwa Shihab Biography

Najwa Shihab was born in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on September 16, 1977. She has a father named Quraish Shihab and a mother named Fatmawaty.

Najwa Shihab can be said to include a child from a family of important officials in Indonesia.

This is because the father of Najwa Shihab once served as Minister of Religion during the era of President Habibie or in the VII Development Cabinet.

Quraish Shihab and Fatmawaty's marriage was blessed with four daughters and one son.

Meanwhile, Najwa Shihab herself is the second of four children. Najwa Shihab has four siblings, one brother and four sisters.

Najwa Shihab's sister is a woman named Najeela Shihab, then Najwa Shihab's first sister is also a woman who has the name Nashwa Shihab. Najwa Shihab's second sister is a man whose name is Ahmad Shihab and Najwa Shihab's last sister is Nahla Shihab.

The names of Quraish Shihab's children are not just beautiful, but each name is a prayer or hope of the parents. The name "Najwa Shihab" given by her father Quraish Shihab means

conversation or whisper. According to the majazinya meaning, a person who is good at talking, easy to understand, and intelligent when interacting with others.

Najwa Shihab married Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf in 1997. Najwa Shihab and Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf have a son named Izzat Ibrahim Assegaf and are usually called by the name Izzat.

Najwa Shihab chose to continue her career in journalism despite being a law graduate. While working in journalism, Najwa Shihab was known by her friends as a super person, friendly, and not arrogant, in fact she was always humble if declared a successful journalist. To this day, even when on the show "Mata Najwa", Najwa Shihab is familiarly called by the name "Nana".

Najwa Shihab's Education

During her education, Najwa Shihab can be said to be a smart student because during her senior high school education, she got the opportunity to study abroad. The opportunity she got was strongly supported by her family.

While studying in high school, Najwa Shihab received an offer or learning opportunity from the American Field Service (AFS) program.

The America Field Service (AFS) program is a student exchange program to America organized by the Bina Antarbudaya Foundation. By getting a student exchange program to America, it can be said that Najwa Shihab has a special level of intelligence.

after completing her high school education and the America Field Service (AFS) student exchange program, Najwa Shihab chose the University of Indonesia as her next educational institution.

The major taken when studying at the University of Indonesia was law. In 2000, Najwa Shihab completed her studies and earned a Bachelor of Laws degree.

After graduating from the University of Indonesia, Najwa Shihab chose her career as a journalist.

Najwa Shihab's Career Journey

One year after graduating from the University of Indonesia, Najwa Shihab started her career in journalism at Metro TV station. Metro TV is a company engaged in national media owned by a politician named Surya Paloh.

At the beginning of Najwa Shihab's career as a field reporter, the main task of a field reporter is to cover news that occurs in the field. Najwa Shihab's career progression continued, after becoming a field reporter, she was appointed as a news anchor.

Some of the news that has been hosted by Najwa Shihab, such as prime time news programs, this news program is usually aired every day at 17.30-19.00.

The next program is a program that contains conversations with certain figures hosted by the host and the name of the method is "Mata Najwa".

The show "Mata Najwa" hosted by Najwa Shihab is arguably a successful show because it can get several awards and many people like this show. One of the keys to the success of this show is the results of in-depth research conducted by Najwa Shihab and the team.

Najwa Shibab has also appeared on a Youtube channel entitled "Shihab and Shihab" which discusses a variety of popular topics and netien questions related to Islamic teachings and documentation of these conversations can be read in the book Shihab & Shihab.

moral messages we can learn from najwa shihab

1. Najwa teaches us as young people to find and live in our own passions.

While we are still young, we must find what we love. The thing or field that makes us more passionate about it. Whatever our passion is, even though many people or obstacles come our way, we must still follow our heart and make ourselves happy.

2. From her short career journey, Najwa also teaches us to always persevere in whatever we do.

Najwa started her career in 2001 and still carries out her passion until now in the field of journalism. That's where she teaches us to always be diligent in whatever we do. In school, college or work, do everything diligently and wholeheartedly. There are no results that betray the effort.

3. Najwa teaches us that while you're still young, join many activities that improve your quality and expand your network.

Since school, Najwa has been very active in joining organizations. You can see that she always likes to improve herself and expand her network from these activities. As young people, we should also improve ourselves by joining various organizations or even useful communities.

From there, we can know our weaknesses and strengths so that we can get better.

4. Because Najwa has lived abroad for her education, she teaches us as young people to step out of our comfort zone.

As we all know, Najwa took her master's degree in Australia. She teaches us as young people to get out of our comfort zone. Living away from family, different seasons, being a stranger in a new place is certainly not easy. But, by getting out of our comfort zone we can become more assertive and dare to determine whatever happens in our own lives.

5. Najwa, who studied journalism even though she studied law, teaches us to be willing to learn new things.

Sometimes, not every major we take in college is our true passion. There are also many economics students who later became fashion designers. The point is, don't be stuck on what your education is or what you graduated from. But follow your heart and pursue your passion.

You'll find yourself developing far more than settling for what you don't like.

6. Najwa, who became the Indonesian Reading Ambassador for 2016-2020, teaches us as young people to increase our interest in reading.

He teaches us as young people to always increase our interest in reading wherever we are. Be willing to learn and don't feel smart. He proved that books are our only way to penetrate space and time without much cost.
