The Title of Thesis: The Influence Of Parents Educational Background On Students English Learning At SMKN 3 Enrekang. Alhamdulillah first of all I would like to express my utmost gratitude to the Almighty Allah SWT who has given his blessing and guidance to the researcher to complete this thesis titled: The Influence of Parents Educational Background on Students English Learning at SMKN 3 Enrekang. Amzah Salle, M.Pd., as the second consultant who has patiently guided and given their design suggestions, motivated and directed the researcher for the completion of the thesis.

All the people who have given their help in writing this thesis that the researcher could not mention one by one. Thesis Title: The Impact of Parents' Educational Background on the Learning of English Students at SMKN 3. The Impact of Parents' Educational Background on the English Language Learning of Students at SMKN 3 Enrekang (Supervised by Nanning and Amzah Selle).

The study aimed to find out the influence of parents' educational background on students' learning of English at SMKN 3 Enrekang. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that there was an influence on the educational background of the parents of class XI students of SMKN. 3 Enrekang consists of primary schools (SD/SMP) as much as 23%, secondary schools (SMA/SMK) as much as 67%, higher education 10%.

INTRODUCTION

Research Question

Is there any influence of parents' education on students learning English at SMKN 3 Enrekang.

Objective of the Research

The result of the study is that there is a significant and positive relationship between parental educational background and student performance. Therefore, it is the custom of his parents and siblings that he will shape the personality of the child in the form of morality. Therefore, the opinion of the parents is the very decisive development of the child in education.

According to the wishes of the environment/education, the person can be educated as a person (either in a good direction or in a bad direction)39. Based on the researcher observation, there are ten classes of the second grade students there. This chapter presents the findings and the discussion of the research on the influence of parents' educational background on students' learning at SMKN 3 Enrekang.

Based on the results of the above research, the researcher can conclude that there is an influence of parents' educational background on the English language learning of students at SMKN 3 Enrekang. The educational background of the parents of students of class XI of SMKN 3 Enrekang is different.

Population and Sample

Simple random sampling technique is sampling where all individuals who are members of the population have the same opportunity and are free to be selected as sample members.44 The method used in sampling by simple random sampling is to use the lottery method.45. The main instrument for data collection in this study was a questionnaire formulated and designed based on variable indicators of The Parents of Educational Background on Students English Learning. Meanwhile, closed questions are questions whose answers are provided and determined by the researcher, participants choose only one of the answers given.

Data analysis is the process of selecting, simplifying, focusing, abstracting, organizing data systematically and rationally in accordance with the objectives of the study and describing the data research using tables as a tool to facilitate interpretation. To determine the classification of the conditions for each variable, the calculation of the length of the interval class is first determined. After determining the length of the interval, the total value of each item in each interval is entered so that it can be frequentized by each classification.

Based on the above data, we can see that the educational background of parents at SMKN 3 Enrekang, especially in eleventh grade, is different. Based on the above table, it can be seen that the parents who declared that the results of learning English were satisfactory were the guardians of 15 students, who declared that they were very satisfactory, as many as nine parents of students. The actions of parents when their children cannot do their work, ask No.

Based on the table above, it can be seen that when parents are faced with their children not being able to do their work, then ask their parents. Based on the table above, it can be seen what parents do when their children are lazy to study. Based on the table above, it can be seen that what parents do to keep their children enthusiastic about learning.

One of the effects of the child's lack of interest in learning is because there is no support from the parents, they become indifferent. If it can be seen from the table, most of the parents answered that their children had achievements in learning English at school, this proves that the educational background of the parents does not have such a big impact on the achievements of the students. And then parents who have higher education (DIPLOMA/S1) their children also have high results.

This chapter deals with the conclusion of the research findings as an answer to the research question. For the teacher, teachers should always improve the quality of their students in order to deepen their study of textbooks and diligently review the content of the lessons that have been taken in order to have more satisfactory learning achievements.

The Instrument of the Research

Technique of Data Analysis

The data is obtained from the results of a survey questionnaire on the answers of the respondents. 11 parents have primary/lower education, then there are 32 parents with high school/vocational education, while those with diploma/S1 education are 5 persons. Based on the table above, 3 people have their last formal education SD/SMP, 17 SMA/SMK and 4 people S1.

Based on the table above, 8 mothers have a formal diploma from SD/SMP, 15 from SMA, 1 diploma/S1 person. Based on the answers to the questionnaire distributed by the researcher to the students' parents, 15 guardians of the students stated that they had satisfactory results in learning English, and as many as 9 guardians of the students stated that they were completely satisfactory.

The answer turned out to be 16 caregivers and 5 parents who asked for help from others. It was found that 15 guardians of students approached their children, 8 guardians of students forced their children to study and 1 guardian of students scolded their children if they were lazy in studying. The answer, it turns out, is for up to 10 carers to make a learning schedule for their child and give prizes if their child excels.

A form of support from parents can be like giving gifts, giving a little attention, for example, making a study schedule so that the child feels cared for. Based on the table above, it can be seen that in class XI there are only 19 students who have achievements in learning English at school and 5 children who do not. This can be seen in the table above where parents who have basic education (SD/SMP) their children still have high English values, as well as parents who have secondary education (SMA/SMK).

Based on the results of this study, researchers have found some important results that should concern all groups; for parents, for schools, for further researchers to improve the quality of education in schools. For parents to increase attention to the development of their children by controlling school hours and what is important is to give spiritual encouragement as a strong motivation, give information on orientation, treatment, opportunities, guide and create an environment good that is given to them.
