Submitted to the English Education Program of the Tarbiyah Faculty of the Islamic State Institute of Parepare in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the. The Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah No. IMPLEMENTATION AND OBSTACLES OF ONLINE ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION DURING THE PANDEMIC. The researcher realized that this dissertation could never have been completed without the help of others.
Yuca Yunita.“Implementation and Obstacles of Online English Teaching During the Pandemic (A Case Study at SMPN 8 Satap Maiwa) (Supervised by Mujahidah and Wahyu Hidayat). And this study discussed how the implementation of online English teaching and what are the obstacles faced during the implementation of that teaching model. This study was at SMPN 8 Satap Maiwa by qualitative approach, this study focused on the behavior of the teacher during the teaching and learning process.
The researcher collected the data through observation during the teaching and learning process, interviewing the teacher and documenting. By studying about this for two weeks, the researcher found out that the implementation of online English language teaching consists of creating a group chat on WhatsApp and Google classroom.
INTRODUCTION
Research Question
The Objective of the Research
Implementation of online English teaching during the pandemic In the implementation of online teaching, the teacher used several media that were suitable for the area where the network was not very good, namely Google Classroom and WhatsApp. At the beginning of the implementation of this online learning, they used Google Classroom as a medium for the learning process. Online teaching was only twice a week due to the government's regulation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the teaching process at each school.
For the above question, we can conclude that the teacher was very careful with the students. Yes, I did a home visit at the beginning of the implementation of online teaching, because some students are unable to participate in online teaching. But in online teaching, I asked them to record their voice based on the topic I chose and then send it to Whatsaap,” both participants said.63.
Finance is one of the obstacles in the online education process, because not all students can afford to buy quotas for online learning, because the income conditions of the students' parents are different. The teachers use media Yes Make the students think about the meaning of the lesson.

Conceptual Framework
The conceptual framework is a picture of the pattern of the relationship between the user variable to explain the theoretical regulation between the variables to be studied. Judging from the above figure, it can be seen that teachers have to do online teaching due to the pandemic, the implementation of online teaching requires the teachers to prepare and adapt their methodology/materials and skill in using the media/platform of teaching . , online teaching must have come up with some obstacles for the teachers, since teachers only have experience in traditional language teaching.
METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH
Location and Duration of The Research
Population and Sample
According to Sugiono's statement, the population is "the entire research object, which may be human, animal, plant, air, symptom, value, events, lifestyle, etc." So this object can be the source of research data27. A sample is defined as a smaller set of data that a researcher selects or selects from a larger population using a predefined selection method.30 This research uses the non-probability sampling technique of purposive or judgmental sampling. The technique of non-probability sampling is often associated with case study research designs and qualitative research.
While one type of non-probability sampling is purposive or judgment sampling, it is a strategy in which particular persons or events are deliberately selected to provide important information that cannot be obtained from other selections. It is where the researcher includes cases or participants in the sample because they believe they warrant inclusion. 31. In this research the sample is the English teachers of SMPN 8 SATAP Maiwa which consists of two teachers.
They teach all students from VII. to IX. class in SMPN 8 SATAP, Maiwa. 31 Hamed Taherdoost, “Sampling methods in research methodology; How to choose a sampling technique for research,” International Journal of Academic Research in Management (IJARM) https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal.
Research Focus
The conduct of the interviews and the order of the questions adapts to the state of the respondent in the current interview contact. The order of the questions, the words and the way they are presented are the same for each respondent. 33. Data analysis is the process of sorting data, organizing them into a pattern, category and a basic outline.
Thus, during the data collection, the researcher constantly circulates between these four steps in order to grasp all the information needed in the next steps of data analysis. This is supported by a statement from one of the students who were taught to suggest the same statement submitted by his friends that they have never learned to use Google Classroom I English subjects. We once learned to use Google Classroom at the beginning of the semester, but it was for other subjects.
So we can say that they have not used the zoom while teaching online applications, due to the location of the area where they cannot access the zoom application because it is limited in several aspects. Then the indicator rating for teachers in online teaching is the attendance, feedback, response chat in chat group, deadline of the assigned task and discipline. The indicator rating is attendance, feedback, response chat in chat group, deadline of the handed task and discipline”.65.
It is only because the students reside in an unstable network location that the lesson that originally used Google Classroom stalled at the beginning of the semester. We only learned with Google Classroom at the beginning of the semester because we had problems, so we moved to WhatsApp."70. The teacher explained that they rarely explained the desired lesson because of the limited time they had.
The teachers cannot control the students to the maximum due to the situation today where the learning process from home is not accompanied by their parents. We can say that evaluation is difficult to do because the material provided offline may be full of material, but online-only part of the material can be conveyed, so evaluation is marginalized. For this online learning, the state of the students is a little difficult to check whether they understand correctly or they just copy from their friends, but so far they have collected assignments with good notes".84 Then the next obstacle the teacher experiences during the lesson is . assessment was the problem with assignment deadlines.
Because some students do not get a quota of assistance from the government because they do not meet the requirements, namely to get a study quota, they have to use a certain card and some of the students do not use the card because the network in the area does not support the use of that card. They are therefore limited by the deadline for collecting assignments where punctuality is one of the teacher's assessment standards. And as for some of the obstacles encountered during online learning, namely (1) error connection, (2) Unable to control the students, (3) system evaluation, (4) Neutral assessment, (5) Economy.
After the preparation of the student's thesis has been examined in accordance with the title, it is essentially demented to meet the suitability to be used in the relevant research.
