ABSTRACT

Investigating Teacher-Students Interaction in an Online Learning Process during Covid-19 at SMKN 9 Bandar Lampung

The purposes of this research are: (1) to investigate the teacher-students interaction in an online learning process during Covid-19 at SMKN 9 Bandar Lampung.; and (2) to explore the factors affecting the teacher-students interaction in an online learning process during Covid-19 at SMKN 9 Bandar Lampung. This research was carried out through a case study. It was conducted in one class with one teacher and 25 students of XII SIJA at SMKN 9 Bandar Lampung from March to April 2021.

The data were obtained from the questionnaire, observation and interview. The research findings show that the teacher-students interaction in an online learning process during Covid-19 at SMKN 9 Bandar Lampung occur in synchronous and asynchronous learning, especially on exchanging knowledge and giving feedback.

The interactions cover the process of explaining the learning material, asking many questions to the students, giving information about assignment, asking the students’

opinion or ideas, responding to the students’ question, praising the students’

answer, giving suggestion to the students, evaluating the students’ work, uploading the learning material, sharing a lecture video, posting questions in a forum discussion, answering students’ question in a forum discussion, responding to students’ answer in a forum discussion, giving a score toward the students’ work, asking the teacher to repeat the explanation, answering questions from the teacher, asking the teacher to clarify information, delivering opinion or ideas, getting any response toward students’ question, receiving some positive feedback, receiving good evaluation directly, get suggestion from the teacher, downloading and reading the learning material, watching a lecture video given by the teacher, answering toward any teacher’s question in a forum discussion, receiving a constructive answer from my teacher in a forum discussion, getting response from the teachers, and getting a valuable score toward the students’ work. Therefore, these teacher- students interaction during synchronous and asynchronous learning will be valuable for teacher to conduct online learning process effectively.
