This research aimed were to found how is speaking ability, how is students’
self-esteem and also to find out the correlation between students’ self-esteem and students’ speaking ability of eleventh grade at SMAN 7 Maros.
This research used correlational research. Random sampling technique was applied to select the sample. Population of this research was eleventh grade at SMAN 7 Maros. The number of sample selected was 30 students. The data were obtained through giving questionnaire and speaking test to students.
The research findings showed that the level of students’ self-esteem of eleventh grade of SMAN 7 Maros was high self-esteem and had good score in speaking ability and also there was correlation between students’ self-esteem and students’ speaking ability of eleventh grade at SMAN 7 Maros. It was shown by pearson correlation or rxy=0.407 that was classified as medium correlation or positive correlation where standard correlation lies between 0,40-0,599. Thus, the students’ self-esteem and students’ speaking ability had significant correlation of eleventh grade at SMAN 7 Maros. It meant that the students had to pay attention in their self-esteem but still improve their speaking ability, so the students could have fluency and accuracy in speaking.

Penelitian in bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berbicara siswa, penilaian diri siswa serta hubungan antara penilaian diri dengan kemapuan berbicara siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 7 Maros.
Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian korelasi. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak dari kelas sebelas di SMAN 7 Maros dengan jumlah 30 siswa. Data diperoleh melalui pengisian angket dan tes kemampuan berbicara siswa.
Hasil penelitin menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara penilaian diri siswa dengan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 7 Maros. Itu ditunjukkan melalui metode korelasi Pearson r yakni nilai korelasi=0.407 yang menunjukkan korelasi menengah atau ada hubungan positif dimana standar korelasi antara 0.40-0.599. Hal tersebut menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara penilaian diri siswa dengan kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas sebelas di SMAN 7 Maros. Ini berarti bahwa siswa harus memperhatikan penilaian yang ada pada diri mereka dan tetap meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara untuk mencapai kefasihan dan keakuratan dalam berbicara.
