A serious coastal accident occurred on February 17, 1909, which temporarily disabled two members of the faculty, Professors Clarke and Annas, and four students. It is a pleasure to report that there have been no changes in the faculties of the University, except those that were reported a year ago. 9. approved by the Headmaster, Professor Morgan, and the Superintendent of the Farm, Mr. John McLennan, and the School gives great promise of usefulness.

In these plans the members of the Alfred Club of New Yorl;: co-operated heartily. Members of the club provided tl'Ophies — a frame, banner and a dozen each, gold, silver and bronze medals at a total cost of about $100.00. The whole affair was under the direction of the Sports Committee of the i'aeulty and the High School's Sports Association.

The restoration of Kanakadea Hall, which it was hoped would be independently funded but has not yet been completed, has led to the year's financial strains.

REPORT OF DEAN AND REGISTRAR

The excellent character of the work done by this class is shown by the fact that ten members of the class have achieved "Honors." Three are eligible for the honor "magna cum laude" after maintaining an average of 93 per cent. Some changes in cabinets and displays are necessary, and other meals to ensure better lighting are desirable. Maps, cabinets, uniform labels, new cases, and reconstruction of old cases, all require funds not at present available to the Curator, and he earnestly requests that no financial aid be given to this work.

Inside, the woodwork should be oiled, the basement should have more perfect drainage, and there should be some improvement in the heating and ventilation of the Laboratory. While the work of classifying and cataloging the collection is in progress, tlulre should be a constant and valuable addition to the collections over the cores already collected. My students would be happy to continue this work as a means of self-improvement, if the materials for the work could be provided to them.

During the past year the following have made gifts to the collections and through your curator they have been acknowledged:.

With the authorization of the committee, the librarian prepared the former history room in the east basement of IJadies hall for a library annex, about 3,000 books, including those received several years ago· by Dr. This arrangement made a convenient storehouse for books overflowing from the library and at the same time lessened the anxiety about the great strain on the library room in Memorial Hall. of which corne on our reading-room tables, will be deposited for ever.

The librarian has arranged a plan whereby these papers can be bound here in the appendix, either by himself or by his assistants, at very little cost.
