Pine St. Closed 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14

On Sept. 14, 2012, Pine Street will be closed to traffic due to construction from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All members of the campus community needing to access the north end of the Alfred University campus will need to use the Saxon Drive entrance.

Is Your Phone Number Correct for the Fall Employee Phone List?

It is time to make sure information is correct for the publication of the Fall 2012 Phone List. To check your business phone, use the Outlook Global Address list to verify your information. This data is pulled directly from Banner and is the same infomation used for the Employee Phone List printed every semester.

If there is no phone number listed for you or a correction is needed, please request by using the Personnel Data Form below and forwarding it to Human Resources.

Student Teaching Application Deadline for 2013 Spring Semester

If you are planning to Student Teach in the spring semester of 2013 you need to fill out and submit a Student Teaching Application to the Division of Education by Monday, Oct. 1, 2012. Applications will be distributed by faculty and are also available at the Division Secretary's office, 333 Myers Hall.

Ade Under Construction: New Dining Hours Set

The Ade Hall renovations look great, but are not quite finished, and we aren't going to open until it's fully ready.

THANK YOU to Dining Services for making these accommodations while we wait for construction to be completed. We do not have an exact date yet by which they'll be finished.

Dining Hours beginning Monday, Aug. 27, until further notice:

MidKnight Express (in Ade Hall) will be open from 11 a.m.-2 a.m. daily

* 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Meal Combos swipes available - limit one visit

* 8:30 p.m.-2 a.m. Meal Combo swipes available - limit one per night

* Boxed Lunches will be available as a meal swipe from 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m.

Powell Dining Hall will be open with extended hours:

* Breakfast 7:30-10:30 a.m.

* Lunch 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

* Afternoon 1:30-4:30 p.m.

* Dinner 5-8:30 p.m.

* Boxed lunches will be available from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Room 305

Residence Life is hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive! If you want to help you can start by getting hydrated, eating iron-rich foods, and making an appointment.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are appreciated. he first 100 donors will receive a free t- shirt! Don't forget to bring some form of ID.

The Service & Leadership Fair will be held Thursday, 13 September from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Knight Club, Powell Campus Center.

Representatives from Campus Programs and Community Organizations will be available to share volunteer and leadership opportunities with you.

There will also be a variety of door prizes!

First year hall cups points available as well!

The AU Math Club and the Division of Mathematics will host a Mathematics Forum, "How can I major

or minor in math?" "What can I do with a math major?" "Where do I find out about undergraduate research?" "How can I prepare for graduate school?"

AU faculty, staff, and students will present information on and answer your questions about topics ranging from the math major to careers in mathematics.

Pizza and soda will be served. All are welcome to attend.

New York Times Newspaper Subscription

The AU Bookstore is offering an academic NY TIMES newspaper subscription. The papers arrive Monday-Friday to the bookstore for pick-up after 2 p.m.

With a subscription, you do qualify for online availability, including the weekend papers. The cost of the subscription is $47 for the Fall semester.

Papers start 9/4/12 and go through 12/12/12, not including breaks.

A majority of SOE's faculty - including our newest faculty - are represented, making the list a "must- read" for those interested in research directions in Engineering at Alfred University!
