General Requirements: All funds raised from the certificates go towards the maintenance of GB3AE, the only 6m repeater in Wales. Each award has its own website, and provides a special application to help in applying for the award.

G8 Award

Work all G8 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United States and United Kingdom in one calendar year. The award is designed to display a larger image of the flag of the country holding the presidency of the G8 Organization in that respective year. The award starts in 2005 with the United Kingdom holding the presidency, and follows in 2006 with Russia. Since the presidency of the G8 changes on an annual basis, the award available each year will reflect the year in which you apply. The award will be issued in future years showing the presidency as follows:

2006 Russia, 2007 Germany, 2008 Japan, 2009 Italy, 2010 Italy, 2011 France, 2012 United States, and 2013 United Kingdom.

Six Continents Award

Work one station on each of the 6 continents (Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe) on or after 1 Jan 1995. All bands and modes. Award may be claimed for any single band. Supply an image of yourself, and

the picture will appear on the club website.

European Union Award

Contact stations located in each of the member states forming the European Union on or after 1 Jan 2000. These are three separate certificates. Class 3 requires 10, Class 2: 20 and Class 1: 25. All bands and modes. This award will be

issued until 1 January 2007.

This award will be available for contacts made on or after 1 January 2006 and recognizes the addition of Bulgaria (LZ) and Romania (YO) to the European Union. Class 3 requires 10, Class 2: 20 and Class 1: 27 countries as shown above

with the addition of LZ and YO.

VHF Award

Work the required number of countries. Available for contacts on 6 meters, 4 meters and 2 meters. There is a basic requirement for the band and endorsement stickers. At the next level past the highest sticker, there is an added certificate and added series of stickers per the table below: Fees for each endorsement sticker is £1, $US2 or 3 IRC.

Region One Award

Awarded for making contacts with different countries which comprise the IARU "Region One":

The Region one award is available in four classes:

Class 4 - 30 countries Class 3 - 50 countries Class 2 - 70 countries

Class 1 - All 89 Region One Countries.

The list of valid Region One countries are shown at: www.region-one-award.co.uk

All bands and modes may be used. However, no use of Repeaters or Echo-Link. Contacts must be on or after 1 January 2005. Each class certificate is customized with the flags of the countries worked so it is very unlikely that any one claiming class four or three will match any other persons award.

The Welsh Award Contact Welsh stations (GW, MW or 2W prefixes) on or after 1 January 2005.

UK and Ireland need 10.

Europeans need 5.

QRP/MILLIWATT SERIES

General Requirements: Awards are free of charge, but sponsor suggest a contribution of some $ or IRC to cover postage expenses. GCR list to Leighton Smart GW0LBI, 33 Nant Gwyn, Trelewis, Mid Glamorgan, Wales, UK CF46 6DB.

Worked All Wales QRP Award - work all 8 Welsh counties while using 5 watts or less output power.

Worked All Wales Milliwatt Award - work all 8 Welsh counties while using less than 1 watt output power.

Saint David's Day Award

Every year on 1 March (St. David's Day), the special event station GB2SDD is activated by the Port Talbot A.R.C.

Stations in UK need GB2SDD and any other 10 GW or MW in the forthcoming year. Others work GB2SDD on this date and any 5 GW stations during the period 1 March until 31 Dec of the same year. SWL OK. GCR list and fee of 5 IRC within UK or 10 IRCs for others to: J. James GW0KPD, 1 Pellau Rd., Margam, Port Talbot, West Glam, Wales, England SA13 2NF.

Vale of Glamorgan Award

Contact 4 stations located in the "Vale of Glamorgan" district of South Glamorgan, Wales after 1 January 1980. GCR list and fee of UK 1.75 pound, $US4 or equivalent IRCs to: C.Jones GW0JCB, 8 West Walk, Barry, S.Glamorgan, Wales, UK CF6 6BY
