Research Subject

The students are taken as the subject of the study because they have poor writing skills. Based on the experience of the teacher during the teaching and learning process and the students' writing skills test results, the teacher discovered problems such as the inability of the students to write the text well.

Research Procedure

By applying this technique, it was expected to solve students' problems in teaching-learning process of writing ability. The classroom action research design applied in this research is a collaborative classroom action research. If the first cycle is not successful, the researcher must carry out the second cycle.

Data Collecting Technique

  • Observation
  • Test
  • Documentation
  • Field Note

This phases the design on the basis of the result of the planning of the second cycle. In this step, the researcher observes the process of teaching learning by using observation sheets to collect the data in the second plan. The writer reviewed and reflected on the students' activities and the teacher's performance, whether positive or negative.

In this case, the researcher observes the students directly in the classroom and gets the description of students' activity in the learning of writing process by using round table technique. Documentation is collection of various documents relevant to the research questions which may include students' writing worksheet, student records and profile, course outlines, lesson plans, classroom materials.35 In this research the researcher took data from the documentation of the school such as the total of students, teacher and school history and the condition of the school (photo). In addition to three data collection methods above, the author also uses field notes to collect the data.

Field notes can include describing the place, people, activity, and atmosphere in the classroom.

Research Instrument

  • Test
  • Observation Guidance
  • Documentation Guidance

As any writer knows, field notes are the most common data collection strategy used in action research to provide a record of what happens during an observation. Meanwhile, the post-test is implemented after making Roundtable technique in teaching and learning process. Therefore, the researcher makes the observation list to know the students' activity in the classroom directly.

The researcher used field notes to record activities during teaching and learning or writing ability using round table technique v. These include the atmosphere in the classroom, the attitude of the students, the activity and activity of the teachers in delivering the material.

  • Data Description of Research

Classroom action research materials used the roundtable technique to improve students' writing skills. a. Complete Incomplete. therefore, the researcher used the round table technique to improve the writing ability of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kotagajah. The researcher also planned to assess the students' knowledge on the given materials.

It can be seen in the score at the pre-test and post-test. Using the Roundtable technique in the learning process is something new in this class because the students are expected to be active not just in a pair with each student, each of them is expected to be active in this case as well. The result of cycle 1 showed that there was an increase in the result in pre-test and post-test 1. The students were sufficiently interested in the learning process although the condition of the learning process was still uncontrolled. But the student's test result was better than the post-test of the students in cycle 1. To learn more about the percentages of the pre-test's score, you can look at the table as follows.

A comparison was made of the students' results in the pretest, after test I and after test II.

Discussion

  • Interpretation Action and Learning Result in Cycle I and Cycle II There was an improving score of the students’ pre-test, post test 1 and post
  • Result of the Students’ Activities

From the improvement of each cycle, it can be seen that using the Round Table technique can improve students' writing ability, because students who can write well can improve their writing. There was an improvement of students who scored up to the standard from pre-test to test 1, and from post-test 1 to post-test 2. Based on the pre-test and post-test score, it was seen that the technique of the Round Table was able to improve students' writing ability.

Based on the above explanation, the researcher concluded that the research was successful because the students' result score had reached the success indicator which was 75% with the minimum mastery criteria being 78. From the above data, it can be concluded that the students felt comfortable and active in following the teaching and learning process. Most students showed good improvement in learning activities when the Round Table was applied to the teaching and learning process from cycle I to cycle II.

Based on the graphic above, it could be concluded that there was an improvement in students' learning activity during the study period by using Roundtable technique to improve students' writing ability.

Discussion

After Cycle I and Cycle II, the students' writing skills improved because the researcher used the Roundtable technique. From the above explanation, the researcher concluded that the research was successful because the indicator of success (75% of the students achieved ) had been reached. Based on the explanation of Cycle I and Cycle II, it could be concluded that the use of the Roundtable technique could improve the writing skills of the students. We could see that there was an improvement over the mean score and total of the students who passed the test from pre-test, post-test I and post-test II.

To improve the students' writing ability, the researcher used Roundtable technique to train the students' writing and made the students more active to write who are also interested in learning writing ability. Round Table Technique contained some steps that made the student more active in learning together with other students, so that the students' writing ability could improve after continuously practicing Round Table Technique. After that, the cycle I, and cycle II improved the students' writing ability because the researcher used Roundtable technique.

From the explanation above, the researcher concluded that the research was successful because the indicator of success (75% of students scored ≥78) was reached.
