Striving for Superiority

Adler argues that "if the inferiority complex appears first or in the past, the multivalue complex appears later in life." He also claims that "an inferiority complex is one of the ways in which people with an inferiority complex escape from problems" (Ansbacher & Ansbacher, 1956, p. 259). The primary and secondary data results of the two problem formulations are tabulated in the appendix. This table consists of columns of numbers, data from the novel, comments, references in the appendix table.

This chapter analyzes the inferiority as depicted in the main character of Wonder (2012) novel by R.J.Palacio. As explained in the previous chapters, feeling of inferiority is “inferiority is an aspect of a person's psychological approach. Then the goal is set as compensation feeling inferior, but that feeling will not appear, except that a child has a basic tendency to be whole." This is common for people in their lives.

34;I don't think he's going to want to be in the school play, Charlotte," said Julian sarcastically. Auggie's mother reassured him that anyone who really knew him would know that Auggie was not ugly in the truest sense of the word. This can be seen in the quote that Augie's mother did not take care of his face.

I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should have a standing ovation at least once in their life. Brownie who always shared his monthly bids which made Auggie more interested in school. In this quote, it can be seen in the scene that Auggie always answers his teacher's questions.

Adler states that, "when the complex feeling of inferiority occurs in the beginning or in the past, the complex of superiority occurs in the course of life" It means that inferiority is related to superiority as continuous steps. From the discussion in the previous chapter, to identify Auggie's inferiority and his striving for his superiority achieved in the novel Wonder described in the novel. The research focuses on the display of Auggie's inferiority as he struggled with his problems and strived for the superiority depicted in the novel.

Types of the Data

Primary data was usually referred to as the primary source, while secondary data served as a supplement to the primary data. Secondary data is information obtained from journals, books, pages and articles or websites that are relevant to the study as functions as a complement to primary data.

Data Analyzing

Auggie is also scared of Julian when Julian looks him in the face when they first meet, which scares Auggie. In addition, Adler argued that some people reflect their own "inferiority complex." According to him, we are born with an inferiority complex (because children are born smaller and physically and mentally weaker than adults) and are often judged by various "psychological inferiority complexes" (We are said to be stupid, unattractive and incapable). Sports, etc.) Auggie's inferiority complex, a strong inferiority complex against inferiors, leads him to an inferiority complex. Suddenly Julian asked jokingly with a braid asking if he liked Black CDS a character known for bad looks in the Star Wars movies.

It may be wise, Auggie is initially unpopular because he has no friends, because of his face. I swear on my life!" I put my hands in the air so he can see I'm not crossing my fingers. In that quote, Auggie is also confident in using his new hearing aids. Auggie shows his lifestyle.

Striving for Superiority

  • Fictional Goal
  • Social Interest
  • Creative Self (Power)
  • Style of Life

It shows him trying to become better through his mother, and shows his pursuit of superiority. It can be shown that Auggie had a desire to stay in school after listening to Mr. Brownie. It shows his fictional goal of being able to go to school after spending a long time at home with his mother, that he strives for his superiority.

Based on the above dialogue, it can be said that Auggie now clearly thinks he is concerned about her mother's condition. It can be seen that Jack and Auggie got straight A's at the science fair, which makes him happy because it's the first time he got an A, and he can complete his science project and get full marks, well he always was at home while his mother went to school together, he did a science project and got an A. In this quote, you can see this in the way the other characters see it.

Although it is better for him to have a supportive family because with all the support and attention he gets from his family, he can be a good boy and more. Furthermore, the author hopes that this study can be a reference for researchers to research the Wonder novel, especially about feelings of inferiority and the pursuit of superiority.

Conclusion

Auggie's search for multiple values is someone who can overcome life's hardships and give him a better life, someone who can help and motivate him. Auggie must overcome the struggle due to great desire, high motivation and courage from his mother, sister, teacher and friends. All other normal children are not as successful in their struggle for a better life as Auggie.
