Quantitative confocal microscopic evaluation of marker expression was performed in areas shown in Fig. 1A. A: Iba1 expression is highly significantly upregulated in the fimbrium and CA1 region relative to control and EAE-induced/FTY720-treated groups (** p≤ 0.001). In the dentate gyrus the corresponding differences are significant (* p≤ 0.05). B: αB-crystallin expression was highly significantly upregulated in the dentate gyrus and fimbrium in the EAE-induced/placebo-treated group relative to sham-injected and normal groups (** p≤0.001), except for the difference between EAE-induced/placebo-treated and sham-injected groups which was significant (* p≤ 0.05). N = 4 mice per experimental group/ round and the experiment was repeated once.
