Statement of Coverage

Disclaimer

The Ministry of Economy is located on the 2nd floor of the Manor Road Building. You may not study the rest of the papers until your third year (the second year of your Finals work). An overview of the syllabus per paper, the so-called rubric, can be found in the Examination Regulations (the 'Gray Book'), the most current version of which can be found at: https://examregs.admin .ox.ac.uk/ .

However, remember that it is very important that you read widely in order to develop a broad understanding of the subject area. You will receive grades for the three assignments taken at the end of the first year. The service is available free of charge to all matriculated undergraduate and graduate members of the University.

Course structure/description

There are no formal university exams in the second year; Final exams will be held in Trinity term in your third year. At least two of your options must be from the Economics list and at least two of your options must be from the Management list.

Syllabus

You must select a minimum of two papers to study in your second year (the first year of work for the Finals), as listed below. Money and Banking [may only be studied in combination with the second-year paper Macroeconomics.

Organisation of teaching and learning

Lecture outlines and related reading lists are available on the specific SBS course pages of Canvas. However, we strongly advise you to ensure that you attend the lectures for the courses you will be taking at the first opportunity offered to you.

Recommended patterns of teaching (RPT)

It must be taken in your second year/first year of your finals work. 17.] Econometrics MT 22 8 There will be a total of 8 exercises—all in MT and a revision lecture in TT. For those starting finals in 2020 and taking the exams in 2022, only macroeconomics will be required.

Expectations of study

Furthermore, you will get the most out of the lecture when you have read relevant material in advance and if you take notes. You will often be provided with online versions of the slides used in the lecture and you can comment on these. Most university advisors set the exam on one semester's work when you return at the beginning of the following semester.

Lecture Recording Policy

You will have a lot of work to complete during the term and most students find that they need to use the holidays to catch up, to consolidate work from the previous term and to supplement reading for a wider and deeper understanding of to get the subjects studied. Indeed, the time between terms is called a 'holiday', not a 'holiday', because even though you 'vacate' Oxford, you should still be working. Additionally, some college tutors may require students to complete specific pieces of work over vacations.

Advice on alternatively assessed papers and workload

Although students are encouraged to explore different avenues of research, it is strongly recommended that you decide on a case study topic before the end of the Trinity Term. It is advisable that you complete the secondary and primary research for your studies during the Long Holiday. It is advisable that you prepare the final version of your case study and teaching note during the winter holidays so that you can submit it during the Trinity Term.

Fieldwork Safety and Training

Assessment structure

100-70: work that displays analytical and argumentative power, with good command of the facts and/or arguments relevant to the questions and evidence of the ability to organize them with clarity, insight and efficiency. 59-50: competent work with no major flaws, but which gives an incomplete account of the question, or is marred by inaccuracies; or work lacking in (but not lacking in) analytical and argumentation skills. 70–79 Standard First Class: Work showing (in substantial parts) analytical and argumentative power with good command of the facts and/or arguments relevant to the questions, and evidence of the ability to organize them with clarity, insight and efficiency .

Feedback on learning and assessment

You should know that one of the most common reasons for bad reviews is irrelevance. There are penalties for missing or negligent responses and for failing to follow instructions on the questionnaire (such as "show knowledge of both authors"), which vary according to the severity of the omission. You will also usually receive some comments to help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of the answers you have given.

Examination conventions

Good academic practice and avoiding plagiarism

It is better to write a brief summary of the author's overall argument in your own words than to paraphrase specific sections of his or her writing. This will ensure that you have a true understanding of the argument and will avoid the difficulty of paraphrasing without plagiarizing. If you cannot access a primary source, you must make it clear in your citation that your knowledge of the work is derived from a secondary text (eg

Entering for University examinations

You must clearly acknowledge all assistance that contributed to the production of your work, such as advice from fellow students, laboratory assistants and other external sources. You should neither use professional agencies in the production of your work nor submit material written for you. It is essential to your intellectual training and development that you complete the research process without assistance.

Examination dates

Furthermore, you should not include anything in a footnote or bibliography that you have not actually consulted. This does not necessarily apply to the help of your teacher or supervisor, nor to regular proofreading, but it is necessary. You may not submit work for assessment that you have already submitted (partially or completely) to meet the requirements of another course or examination, unless this is specifically arranged in the special regulations for your course.

Overview of Health and Welfare at the University of Oxford

We have information about accessing medical advice and guidance on how to stay healthy while studying at university. All peer supporters have been carefully selected and trained to take on this role and receive ongoing support and supervision from the University Counseling Service. The university has a professionally trained confidential Student Counseling Office to help with personal, emotional, social and academic problems.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can take your concerns further by filing a formal complaint with the Proctors under the University Student Complaints Procedure. Your program manager will issue you with an access card for use in and around the building. The building is restricted to Oxford Saïd members only, so please do not lend your card to another person or allow anyone to enter through the tailgate. You will receive your SSO by email up to three weeks after you have submitted your completed University ID form. After setting a secure password, you will be prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your SSO account - Multi-Factor Authentication | IT Help (ox.ac.uk). Once you arrive in Oxford, you will be able to use your single sign-on to access online resources.
