The VCDR defines the tasks of bilateral diplomacy as representation, protection, negotiation, reporting and promotion. on the other hand, multilateral diplomacy is distinguished by the number of members from diplomacy participants who are more than 2 countries and the type of cooperation is multilateral. We have known about this multilateral diplomacy before, namely as cooperation carried out by several countries where there are more than two countries. The origin of the member countries in this multilateral diplomacy is not specified. That is, its members do not have to come from a certain area. So that we can know that multilateral diplomacy is cooperation carried out by many countries and there are no special requirements regarding the origin of member countries. There are lots of multilateral diplomacy spread all over the world, and each of these diplomacy has its own goals and purposes.
There are many goals of multilateral diplomacy, and these goals are tailored to the interests of each organization. In general, the aim of multilateral diplomacy is to advance its member countries, and not countries that are in a particular region. Several benefits are also seen in this diplomatic practice, including; Under certain circumstances multilateral diplomacy is the best chance for successful negotiations. An opportunity for countries, especially small countries
that are far away, to introduce themselves to other countries. The forum for small countries complains when there is a threat from other countries. This multilateral conference received wide support because it gave impetus to bilateral diplomacy.
Between multilateral diplomacy and bilateral diplomacy there is a difference, namely where if in multilateral diplomacy it prioritizes cooperation between countries in an international forum, and this is different from bilateral diplomacy which in bilateral diplomacy prioritizes the existence of a cooperative relationship between two countries through politics and the military because this is considered more important than talking about ideology and cultural differences.
So in bilateral diplomacy a diplomat must be able to influence his opponent for the national interest of his country (National Interest).
