Abstract

Background : People with hypercholesterolemia may have coronary heart disease, atherosklerosis, and stroke. Oralhealth such ^as periodontitis could increased the levelof plasma lipid. They mustcontroltheir diet

Stichopus hermanii extract is a natural source of saturated fatty acid containing omega-3 which can decrease cholesterol blood level. Purpose : The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the bioactivity of

Stichopus hermaniiextractto decrease triglyceride blood levelin periodontitiswistar rats. Materialand Methods : The sample of this research were 30 rats were divided in 5 groups. _K(-) group as negative controi group (without treatment), K(+) group _as positive control group (the rats were induced mix periodontopathogen), Pl ^group as treatment

Result ^{: All the} data in thls study were analyzed ^by ANOVA and LSD test. The result showed that group K(- ₎ and K(+)1, group K(-) and K(+)2, group K(+)1and ^K(+)2, group K(+)2 and ^P were significantly differences, whereas the other data showed no significantly differences. Conclusion : Stichopus hermanii extract could decrease level of total cholesterol in periodontitis wistar rats.
