This study identifies disaster events that occurred in the city of Semarang from both strategies to deal with them in general and specifically with the help of information technology, namely GIS (Geographic Information System) maps. This study describes several disaster incidents that occurred in the city of Semarang and their mitigation, which is based on community empowerment, especially in communities. Point elements as cities, line elements as roads, and polygon elements as residential areas; and the number of landslides and floods in the city of Semarang.

The cause of the flooding is heavy rainfall, rainwater that is not absorbed in the upstream area (due to deforestation), rivers that experience narrowing or siltation (due to garbage and uncontrolled development), or topographical conditions in the form of basins that tend to become catchment areas (Aritama and Dharmadhiatmika, 2019).
