Total Marks = 652 Total Data = 15 Mean = 43.46 Based on the presentation of the data in the table above, the writer was convinced that the writing level of the students was low, especially in writing argumentative essays. Based on the Preliminary Research Result above, the writer found many problems faced by students in writing argumentative essays. Therefore the writer chose this title because the title of this study is interesting, and the writer wanted to prove how much the application of Tumblr as a media student affects argumentative essay writing.

To conduct this research, the author formulated the research question: "Does Tumblr application media affect argumentative writing skills in third grade .. students at SMA YAPIM Medan. Looking at the problem statement above, the purpose of the above research is ”The purpose of this study is based on the background and issues above , which aims to find out whether the tumblr app significantly affects argumentative writing skills of third grade students at SMA YAPIM Medan”.From writing argumentative essay, the author could learn the quality and ability of each student.

The writer will examine in class XII IPA 1 and XII IPA 3. 1.5 The Importance of the Research. Ha : There was a significant effect of using Tumblr application media on argumentative writing skill of the third grade students at SMA YAPIM Medan. Ho: There was no significant effect of using Tumblr application media on argumentative writing skill of the third grade students at SMA YAPIM Medan.

The initiator of the method has decided on the type of activity, the roles of teachers and students, the types of useful materials and certain organizational models of the syllabus.

Tumblr was one of favorite social media because the user could simply create a blog. Tumblr was published in English using the classification framework developed by us based on the research results of Twitter (Williams et al. Advantages of the Internet, it also made it easy for foreign language learners to access the virtual classroom , and students could access some websites. for language learning, and some online materials that were even physical, the classroom cannot give them.

With this media, online blogs can be used as media for teaching English in the classroom, especially for teaching writing. According to Zhang, blogs were easy to link to each other to create a larger online community. Language learners can use a personal blog as an electronic portfolio that shows development over time.

By publishing a blog on the Internet, students have the opportunity to offer writing opportunities to classmates and other readers. According to Egbert (2006), in Kavaliauskiene et al. According to Campbell (2003:2), a blog can be considered an online journal, individuals can constantly update their own language, thoughts and ideas through software that makes it easy for a person to do so.

Therefore, all students in era 4.0 must use some simple media to make a lesson/study become happy and effective and make a change in the learning process. Students could learn more from the comments Send and get direct feedback from the teacher online.

In essence, these media were almost the same as other media as it gave creativity in writing argumentative essays and also activated their prior knowledge in writing. Using Tumblr to Improve Students' Writing Skills in Text Retelling (Classroom Action Research) at MA Al Khoiriyyah Semarang in Academic Year 2014/2015 by Nita Kurniati (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training Walisongo State Islamic University Semarang 2015). The researcher used the Tumblr app as a medium to improve students' writing skills in writing narrative texts.

The result of the test showed that the average score of the students on the pre-cycle test was 60.7, the average score of the students on the I. cycle was 79.8 and the average score of the students on the II. cycle 86.4. The test score indicated that the treatment was successful because the test result was II. cycle higher than the I. cycle test. According to this result, the researcher concluded that the research has improved the student's skill in writing narrative text.

Eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Pontianak should have at least 78.00 as the minimum score for all English skills including writing. It was very different from the fact taken from the students' pre-test results, the eleventh grade students of Class XI IPA 2 scored only 71.2 for the mean of students' writing scores. It would successfully connect teachers and students in the writing process to produce a written essay.

Therefore, the writer decided to use the media (Tumblr application) to improve the students' writing skills (mainly argumentative essay). Writing was one of the most important skills in English because writing was the most important part of communication tools. In writing, there were many types of narrative texts, procedural texts, narrative texts, news, etc., but the writer would discuss argumentative essays because most of the students would encounter difficulties in writing.

While the control group was taught by explaining the media (paper) as usual in the classroom. In this study, the writer would try 2 mediums using the Tumblr app and without using the Tumblr app (using paper as the media). But to be balanced, the writer used 2 teaching methods which are the same, namely conventional teaching methods.
