a. Unsur isi paper cukup lengkap tetapi unsur penulisan paper berbeda dengan yang lain dan tidak mengacu kepada petunjuk penulisan yang baku. Judul dan IMRaD terkait satu dengan yang lain tepatnya pada karakteristik dan proses peri urbanisasi pada jenis kota kedua di kota Surakarta.

b. Pembahasan cukup mendalam tentang kontelasi perwilayahan Kota Surakarta, aspek demografi, guna lahan, dan perubahan sector dari data PDRB. Artikel sesuai dengan bidang ilmu penulis terutama dalam konteks pengembangan kota dan wilayah. Pembahasan hasil tidak didukung oleh sumber pustaka yang relevan.

Penulisan sudah merujuk kepada petunjuk penulisan paper dari IOP Science. Judul dan isi paper sudah sesuai, membahas periurbanisasi di secondary city..

b. Pembahasan mengenai fenomena periurbansiasi dengan mengambil kasus Kota Surakarta sudah detail dan lengkap. Sayangnya terdapat perbedan pernyataan tujuan penulisan yang tercantum di abstrak dan bagian latar belakang. Artikel sesuai dengan bidang ilmu penulis kedua terutama dalam konteks perencanaan pengembangan wilayah dan kota. Didukung 17 pustaka dan sebagaian besar diantaranya berasal dari jurnal terindeks.

INTRODUCTION

First of all, let us praise and gratitude to the Almighty God for His blessings and permission of His grace so we can be present and come together during this blessed day on the 4th International Conference on Friendly City 2017. It is our pleasure to welcome all of us to Medan and to this high quality conference.

As the host, under the leadership of our Rector, University of Sumatera Utara has a strong commitment on enhancing the academic quality of this university. To do so, one of the efforts is to support any of international conference such this Friendly City to produce high quality proceedings.

This international conference has a long history. It was started 16 years ago, as a celebration of 10 years of Architecture of USU and known as the First Friendly City on 1st and 2nd November 2001. The 2nd and 3rd Friendly City was held on 11 and 12 July 2003 and on 16 and 17 November 2011, respectively. After waiting for 6 years, today we are now chairing the 4th Friendly City 2017.

I am honored to inform you that organizer and IOP has signed an Agreement to publish the proceeding of this conference in the Earth and Environment; Conference Series. The proceeding will be indexed in several reputable databases such as Scopus, Thompson, Compendex, etc.

For your information, after call for papers was announced several months ago, 314 abstracts have been submitted to organizer and 217 papers are selected to be presented. All papers that will be presented today have been peer reviewed through processes administered by the Editors. Reviews were conducted by expert referees to the professional and scientific standards expected of a proceedings journal published by IOP Publishing.

I would to inform that our participants today come from 5 different countries. They are from Malaysia, Italy, Australia, Germany, and Indonesia. Thirty-eight (38) institutions have sent their best researchers to participate in this conference. This event is expected to become an excellent platform for knowledge exchange among academician, researchers, scientists, engineers, students and all related stakeholders. By gathering here, we expect the conference will offer the participants to network, collaborate, as well as to share research finding and experience. So please build your network. On behalf of organizer we would like to thank our keynote speakers today.

Mr. Vanni Puccioni from University of Florence, Italy and Professor Marco Sala also from University of Florence. Your contributions to this international conference are highly appreciated.

Our thank you also goes to our international board and steering committee.
