Overview of COBIT 5

Detailed mapping of business goals - IT-related goals describe how business goals are typically supported by one or more IT-related goals. The detailed description of COBIT 5 enablers builds on Chapter 5 and includes more detail on the various enablers, including a detailed enabler model that describes specific components and is illustrated with numerous examples.

Implementation Guidance

The involvement and buy-in of the relevant stakeholders must be solicited from the outset. As mentioned earlier, an appropriate environment must be created to ensure success with the implementation or improvement initiative. During phase 7, the overall success of the initiative is reviewed, additional requirements for management or management of the company's IT are identified, and the need for continuous improvement is reinforced.

This can be in the form of a 'wake-up call' (where specific pain points are experienced, as mentioned earlier) or an expression of the improvement opportunity to be pursued and, very importantly, the benefits that will be realized. Enabler: Principles, Policies and Frameworks

A key consideration for frameworks and policies is the currency of policies: if and when policies are revised and updated, are there strong mechanisms in place to ensure that people are aware of these updates, that the latest version is easily available? accessible (see previous point), and that outdated information is properly archived or deleted. As part of risk management activities, the company's risk appetite is defined, and this risk appetite should be reflected in the policy. The new policy fits into the existing policy framework under the category 'acceptable use policy' and is more flexible than the previous policy.

Principles and policies are a very important communication mechanism for corporate values ​​and desired behavior.

Therefore, there is a mismatch between values ​​and the means to realize values, inevitably leading to conflict. Conflicts may arise, for example, between the incentives established for managing and implementing the wrong policies.

Enabler: Information

Information Enabler

Reputation – The extent to which information is highly regarded with respect to its source or content. Relevance – The extent to which information is applicable and useful for the task at hand. Plan - The stage in which the creation and use of the information resource is prepared.

Storage - the stage in which information is stored in electronic form or in hard copy (or even just in human memory). Contingency - An attribute that identifies information that must precede this information (for it to be treated as information).

Enabler: Services, Infrastructure and Applications

Simplicity—The enterprise architecture should be designed and maintained to be as simple as possible while still meeting enterprise requirements. Agility—The enterprise architecture must incorporate agility to meet changing business needs in an effective and efficient manner. The enterprise's definition of the most appropriate architecture viewpoints to meet the needs of different stakeholders.

These are guidelines, templates or standards that can be used to speed up the creation of architecture products. Information is one of the service capabilities, and service capabilities are leveraged through processes to provide internal and external services.

Enabler: People, Skills and Competencies

Alignment A state where the enablers of governance and management of enterprise IT support the goals and strategies of the enterprise. Application Architecture Description of the logical grouping of capabilities that manage the objects needed to process information and support the enterprise's goals. Business Objective The translation of the company's mission from a statement of intent into performance targets and results.
