Scaffolding Installation of Conventional Floor Slab

The installation of formwork scaffolding is a complex process and to be a top priority at every stage of installation, from planning to implementation.

There are some safety aspects that must be considered in the installation of formwork scaffolding. Here are some aspects to consider :

- Scaffolding Condition : Ensure the scaffolding is proper and stable condition. Carefully to check each part, such as legs, frames, and locks, as well as ensure there is no damage or corrosion.

- Maximum Load : Ensure the scaffolding is capable to withstanding the load it will carry on, including the weight of workers, materials and equipment.

- Supports and Locks : Ensure all supports and locks have been installed properly and securely. Improper or loose using of locks can cause the scaffold to collapse.

- Access and Work Paths : Ensure the work access and platforms are safe and easily accessible. Avoid materials that obstruct access.

- Safety Equipment : Safety equipment using, such as safety harnesses, helmets and safety shoes when working at heights.

- Weather Conditions: Stop working if weather condition are unfavorable, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms.

The scaffolding installation functions to support temporary loads during the process of reinforcing floor slabs.

There are 2 types of scaffolding/ shores as supports :

- Wooden/ Bamboo Scaffolding, the bamboo scaffolding has diameter > Ø 7 cm at the base or wood has measuring 5 cm x 7 cm to be able to withstand the bending factors will arise. To support workers, boards are needed as scaffolding flooring that must be cut parallel to the wood grain to be able to withstand loads with a minimum thickness of 8 mm.

To make the workers to complete their construction work easily, the distance between the work floor board and the building wall is recommended not to exceed 30 cm.

- Steel Scaffolding, scaffolding is made from steel pipe. This scaffolding is made in the factory, but can be assembled at the project site.

1. Scaffolding Erection (Setting-up)

Scaffolding is installed when the building work has reached a height of 2 meters and cannot be reached by workers.

- The first installation starts from the Jack Base with a maximum length of 0.6 m and continues with the installation of the Main Frame. Commonly, the scaffolding used has a height/ length of 0.9m, 1.7m & 1.9m.

- Installation of Cross Braces/Diagonal Braces to tie among the

mainframes and continued to the installation of Joint Pin/ Lock Pin when connecting between Mainframes.

- If don't need an additional mainframe, it can continued to installation U-head (it is the same maximum length as the Jack Base).

- Then, continued to installation of Girder Beam with dimensions of 6x10cm (made of steel or wooden) on U-head.

- And continued to installation of Gording Beam with a maximum distance of 50cm between both of them.

Scaffolding Installation Metal Deck Installation

2. Installation of Wooden Multiplex or Metal Deck (As Needed)

Arranging the plywood that has been cut as measured (or the metal deck material), placed on the top of wooden/ steel beams and

arranged neatly and tightly, thus there are no gap that be effected the leaks when concrete pouring.

Then its continued to Rebaring/ Reinforcement Work & Concreting Work.
