CONTROLLING MUFFLE FURNACE BY USING PLC

Hardening of Tool Steel is a process that has a Tool Steel to go through Heat Treatment, this research is meant to have a Muffle Furnace to be controlled specifically for the sake of Hardening of Tool Steel. The research will be based on Temperature Profiling of the Tool Steel by controlling the system with PLC OMRON CP1E N30 SDR-A alongside an added control panel for operator to interface with the machine. The new control system is capable to heat both general shaped Tool Steel and complex shaped Tool Steels because it is provided with a Complex Heating Mode, it also provides the operator to add multi stages of holding temperature at any preset time. A new control panel is served specifically for this function without needing to overhaul the old control panel of the Muffle Furnace. For this to work there will be a switch to control which control panel is currently active. The end result would have the PLC controlling the Heater of the Furnace in ON/OFF logic fashion and the Operator can control the amount of time to heat material in Complex Heating.

Mr. Cepi was particularly keen in guiding me in how to approach the problems in the research methodologically and at the same time simple to understand.
