In his grace he chose me by the plan of the Father, bought me by the blood of the Son and worked in me by the power of the Holy Spirit. Second, I want to thank my wife, Lindsay, and our children: Tillman, Warren, and Owen. They allowed me time away to work on this project that they can never get back.

It is my desire that Tillman, Warren and Owen grow up to be men of conviction, character and ability. I pray that they will become faithful ministers of the gospel who will continue to teach others what I have taught them. The purpose of this project was to confide in others what I learned from them in the presence of many witnesses.

Each of these men was a faithful shepherd who was full of conviction, character and competence while I was under his care as a member of the church. I am also grateful to my best and most loyal friend, Philip Morris, who was there at the most important time of my life and has been my most devoted supporter ever since.

INTRODUCTION

By God's grace and through these means, training future pastors at FBCE results in both the maturity of the trainees and the congregation for the glory of God in the church. These goals reflect a progression of steps to be taken to train future pastors at FBCE. This verse was given as a call to Timothy to train the future ministers of the church.

Timothy must train the future pastors of the church in this conviction so that it will lead to boldness in their lives. One way to accomplish this task is by training future pastors in the context of the local church.”59. It is in the church community that future pastors can best see shepherding demonstrated and modeled.

Exposition of the four biblical passages shows that churches must train future pastors in the aspects of conviction, character and. Historically, Christians have understood that the New Testament presents two manifestations of the church—the universal church and the local church. Some think that the pastor in modern times should be the chief executive officer of the church.

It is not enough for future pastors to teach their people the knowledge of the Bible. The first and most important aspect of the church a pastor must lead is the membership. They are characteristics in which every member of the church should seek to grow.

Mobilize the church family to join you in caring for the needs of the family. He also helped with the training of the volunteers and supervision of the leadership meetings. Furthermore, evangelism and church planting must be prioritized in the most unreached parts of the world.

He was also able to attend meetings Bowden had with church trustees and executive deacons. August is the busiest month of the year for church staff. He was able to attend a committee meeting of the committee that oversees the church's Hispanic ministry.

Designing a Pastoral Training Curriculum and Schedule Curriculum and Schedule

This goal was measured by an expert panel consisting of four pastors: Al Jackson, Ken Vickery, Scott Ferguson and Kameron Pugh. Three members of the panel also received important training in pastoral maturity through a thorough pastoral internship. Jackson is the pastor who provided pastoral training for the other three; he trained forty-seven men through a pastoral training internship which he started in connection with the Southern Seminary.

Each panelist has supervised pastoral trainees within the local churches in which they have served as senior pastors. The panel used a rubric (PTCSET) to evaluate the biblical fidelity, clarity, and practicality of the curriculum and outline.3 This goal was considered successful when the panel gave a minimum score of 90 percent of the evaluation criteria at pass or above . levels.

The Initial Assessment of Pastoral Maturity of Pastoral Maturity

Therefore, the survey sought to provide a comprehensive analysis of the specific areas that would be covered in the pastoral training curriculum. This goal was considered successful when each of the three students completed the survey in full and returned it to me by March 4, 2019.

Assessing the Increase in Pastoral Maturity in Pastoral Maturity

It may be because they did not know the trainees prior to their entry into the program. Therefore, they could not distinguish the progress of the trainees due to the lack of initial knowledge. Thus, they did not value the growth of the trainees as much as they valued the standards of the finished products.

Therefore, this is possible evidence that the MSS was a better reflection of trainees' overall state of maturity rather than their growth in maturity. This is also possible evidence that the PTS was accurate in both its assessment of growth in pastoral maturity and the final state of pastoral maturity for each intern. Post-survey results revealed positive statistical growth in each of the three general primary valuation categories and in each of the fourteen specific subcategories.

Prior to entering the program, Trainee 2 had an average score of 5 or higher in four of the fourteen specific subcategories. Upon completion, he had a score of 5 or higher in all but one subcategory; however, it was also the subcategory (Evangelism and Missions) in which he saw the greatest growth. His overall average increase was a score of 1.05, which was a 21% overall increase.15 The overall overall increase for trainees was a score increase of 0.96, which was a 19% overall increase in pastoral maturity.16 It was twenty-four of the 188 evaluation statements that.

It is encouraging to see that the interns believe they are most mature in the areas where pastoral maturity is most needed. This shows that the program provided sufficient training in students' understanding of the local church. Although the project was an overall success, there were at least two weaknesses to the project.

I should have found better ways to incorporate more accountability and relationship care for trainees. Another weakness of the program was the lack of sufficient practical training in the area of personal evangelism. Two out of four pertained to personal evangelism.27 The trainees had a lot of practice in the field of evangelism.

Practical Experience

The following rubric was used to test the effectiveness of the pastoral training curriculum and schedule used to train the trainees in pastoral maturity. 1 This section has been adapted with permission from Appendix 2 in Andrew Kevin Huette, “The Shepherd's Institute: A Training Process for Aspiring Elders at Christ Community Church in Gridley, Illinois” (DMin Project, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 2017). In no more than 1,500 words, submit additional feedback identifying specific strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum and aspects you would add or omit.

The following survey was used to assess the initial pastoral maturity of the pastoral trainees upon entry into the program and then to assess their pastoral maturity upon completion of the program in order to achieve the 2nd and 4th objectives of the project. 1 The "Living Without Reproach" portion of this survey was adapted with permission from Appendix 3 in Andrew Kevin Huette, "The Shepherd's Institute: A Training Process for Aspiring Elders at Christ Community Church in Gridley, Illinois" (DMin Project, The Southern Baptist Theology seminary, 2017). I am convinced that it is necessary to courageously and lovingly lead the church away from unbiblical ethics within the church or from the outside culture, regardless of the pressures, arguments or persecution that will come against me.

I have the conviction necessary to faithfully apply a biblical understanding of the office of pastor to pastoral ministry. I have the conviction necessary to faithfully apply a biblical understanding of the office of deacon to the pastoral ministry. I have the conviction necessary to faithfully apply a biblical understanding of the Lord's Supper to pastoral ministry.

I am convinced of a biblical ecclesiology that will strike a balance between compassionately bringing sinners into the church through the grace of the gospel and lovingly correcting members of the church through church discipline when necessary. I strive to live a life of dedication and discipline befitting the scriptural qualifications of a minister. I live a life that is not characterized by bowing down and worshiping graven images that are of creation.

I give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they have pure motives until clear evidence to the contrary. I have the competence to call and train future church leaders from my congregation. Please submit additional feedback of 1,500 words or less that identifies specific strengths and weaknesses of the schedule and aspects you would add or subtract.

The following survey was used by the ministry supervisors to assess the increase in pastoral wisdom of each pastoral intern upon completion of the program with the goal of completing goal 4 of the project. The research you will participate in is designed to help identify the current Christian belief, character and competence development of the.
