Therefore, cluster random sampling is the sampling procedure that uses a group as a sample than an individual. The reason the writer used this cluster random sampling technique was that the more representative the samples were, the greater the significance of the correlation would be.

Due to its small size, the accurate information compared to the sample could be used by highly trained personnel, so that the error factor in data collection and processing could be minimized. In this study, the writer took XI IPA 1 SMA Islam Az-Zahrah Palembang as a sample.

Technique in Collecting Data

  • Questionnaire of Reading Interest
  • Validity of Questionnaire
  • Reliability of Questionnaire
  • Writing Test
  • Validity of Writing Test
  • Reliability of Writing Test

Criteria for Scoring Student Writing Achievement the writer used an analytical scoring rubric to analyze the data revealed in the students' written test. 10 Very Good: Use accurate and effective word choice/diction 9 Good: Use accurate diction but. Based on Fraenkel, Wallen and Hyun (2012, p. 148), validity was regarding appropriateness, correctness, meaningfulness and usefulness of the precise inferences that researcher makes that support the information they collect. In this study to measure the writing test, the author used evidence related to the content. The content and format must match the definition of the variable and the sample of subjects to be measured.

The test specification was related to the syllabus in the curriculum and presented in Table 8 below. Students are able to find new and increase knowledge of new meaning of analytical expository text 4. Students can create analytical expository text using punctuation and they can spell words.

From the interpretation of the classification of reliability in Table 9, it could be concluded that the writing test was marginally or minimally reliable.

Technique for Analyzing the Data

  • Descriptive Analysis
